Europe Thread 25/26

Spurs stay up and with massive investment as claimed, they could be our direct competitor.

The others in the mix with us, were a bigger club and in theory should overtake them once we hit another gear of investment.

Draw ideal really
Meh - competition is good. And it will take a few years and some stable management to sort out their problems.

Might be more fun beating them fair and square over a number of seasons.

We need wins - about four to stand a favourites chance; or three wins and a couple of draws. 10-12 points would get us 57-59 points.

60 would certainly do it.

Yes 60 has been what ive said for a while now.

Win tomorrow and get 10pts from the last 5 and we should finish 5th.

I doubt we'll finish that high.

7th or 8th on about 55-56 points is my non-negotiable 'worst' finishing place scenario though.

There's no excuse for us to drift below that given that we have 18 points to play for and just need to add 8-9 points to get there.

Anywhere from 7th to 11th I think, depends how much luck we get along the way.
If we finish 11th I want him gone.

I said all season that a bare top half finish probably keeps him here to see out his contract. But falling in to the bottom half is something he has to pay with his job for. Because if we are bottom half it'll mean he'll have been backed but barely got us a handful extra points more than the last two seasons.

Can't disagree with any of that. It would be his recruitment / rejection of incoming players that costs him, if so.

Still can't believe we went into the season with Barry/Beto, and didn't bother for a real right back.

None of it makes sense to me: he didn't get our primary targets and then compounded it by marginalising most of the players he did spend cash on.

It's a good job for him Pickford has had a great season and KDH and Grealish hit the ground running.

If we dont get Europe from here it'll not only be a tremendous disappointment it'll also hand him more of his favourite 'not having European football to offer' excuses for the summer window.
