It's like saying the people who stormed the Senate for Trump were a minority so Trump supporters in general shouldn't be seen in the same light. After all, millions voted for him, only a few thousands stormed the Senate, so it's not fair to make a big deal out of it right?

Makes no sense.

It's a very fair question: do those who profess allegiance to something deserve to be viewed through the prism of the worst of those that profess that something? They didn't do what those people did, but they chose to continue the association after the indefensible act(s).

You could argue that continuing the association after those other people did those things makes them worse, because it makes them hypocrites. You could equally argue that they are better, because they forgive and continue the association with what they believe and/or love.

The answer is probably that it depends on the person in question and is fundamentally unknowable to everyone else.
