Euro2020 Knock Out Rounds

The British should be able to win this Euros, given that the semis/final will be held in Wembley. I said this few weeks ago that England have a great chance to win this and I was laughed at. It's more of a shock why they haven't won this tournament yet considering garbage like Denmark and Greece have won this before.

Hmmmm, I have a feeling if England were knocked out in the last 16 you wouldn’t have been on here wishing they’d got to the final because it would hurt more.

Search your feelings you know it to be true. Yes it's great getting to the biggest stage, to have those moments getting to a final, the excitement building up to the match. But if you get bummed in it, those goals will be constantly shown over and over again years after the event. You'll wish you went out in the semi/quarter/round of 16 where the spotlight is a little bit less and you can't say well if we had just won one more game we would have been champions.

This is a fantastic way to console yourself. Very Evertonianesque. I’ll try this some time.

In the meantime, I’m absolutely loving life and you’re all absolutely seething and typing angry paragraphs on the internet.

Not one bit angry mate, I'm giving you my personal view as someone who was at Wembley in 2009 and at the full time whistle I wish I wasn't.

I also didn't say England are going to lose, I just picked up on your message giving it some and I gave you an honest response to it. Of course to win something you have to get to the final so they're the chances you take, but I wouldn't believe you if you said going out in the semi would be the same as losing in the final. It just isn't because it's down to that one game where you get the trophy at the end of it, one win is all that it takes. The build up from Wednesday to Sunday will be frenzied, like from now to Wednesday x 10.

No one knows what is going to happen in a football match of relatively even teams, the opposition could get two red cards within the first 5 minutes and it might be a cake walk, so no one can say England are going to lose if they get to the final. However we all know it will be a step up and England will have to overcome the personal demons of being in a similar position and coming up short before. Much like Belgium who can swot teams aside out of a tournament but when it really matters they couldn't.
