Euro 2020 postponed

How couldn’t they not let the season be finished, Barney?

A pandemic is totally out of their control and I would say the resumption of football is totally out of their hands.

They are just talking and blustering to make themselves sound relevant.

And right now UEFA and football in general are total irrelevancies.

Whether the RS realise it or not.

I agree, it’s completely madness.

But in a world controlled by money, they’re finishing the season one way or another. If we’re sat here starting next season Boxing Day, we’re starting on Boxing Day.

But they’re controlled by money, and people aren’t factored in.

It'd be great to have a thread on here without people banging on about the other shower. Sick of reading about them.
If you're talking about whether any football is going to take place then you have to consider if anyone is going to have the chance to win the league. Unfortunatly this season, that's the RS and to be honest, even as a blue, you have to admit they deserve it.

Finally. The current league season can be finished around June/July and no pre-season. Life's good.

Realistically if you take bias out of it.

Why would you void a season that is more than 75 percent complete and can be completed in less than 4 weeks? Given the financial and legal issues.

The legal problems of voiding would be too vast.

If they finish the games there are no arguments. Teams have already spent this years sponsorship money and therefore will operate at a loss and will fail FFP. Everton are currently already operating at a loss.

Next years season can be delayed as long as possible as there is no ruling in when it can start. Therefore, finishing this season will.not impact the finances of next season one iota.

The Chinese Super League has already announced to restart their season and it was impacted greatly.

The agenda to void was only a pie in the sky agenda made by a manchester journalist.

I think we need to show a bit of class and stop using a deadly pandemic in the hope's of our closest rivals from losing the title.

I will be going into self isolation for the inevitable parade.

this is not even a news, it was obv. in a month (mid April) they will announce the cancellation of local leagues. it is a no brainer.

They won't write a whole season off for the sake of the end of the last one.

Otherwise you end up with potentially 6 months of dead game time.

It either gets played before next season or it doesn't at all.

Football is entirely irrelevant now.

And will be for the forseeable future.

IMO this season does not get finished at all.

And the sooner the football authorities admit it and write it off the better.

How long are you willing to wait for the trophy?

I totally disagree with you.

Unless there is a miracle cure in the next couple months you can kiss goodbye to next season, never mind finish this one.

This one will not be resumed on April 2nd, that’s for sure.....if it ain’t resumed by the start of May, unlikely IMO, then this season will be terminated to end the uncertainty.

No one, especially the TV companies, will be interested in resuming this season even three or four months down the line IMO.

All interest has gone out of it.

If and when football resumes....and it sure won’t be the second Saturday in August at this rate....the TV companies will want a whole fresh new start.

They “deserve” sod all.

Except ridicule and opprobrium.

A hateful, horrible shower.

Always were, always will be.

They'd deserve it if they completed a 38 game season.

It's not a hard one to get your head around - they don't deserve it now in the same way Aston Villa don't deserve to be relegated while 3 points from safety despite playing a game less.

The season isn't valid until all games have been played. It really is that simple.

You say there's no problem delaying the start of next season. However, surely that implies finishing later. Which will impact on the Euros.

If you take bias out of it, voiding a cancelled season makes most sense. Clive Woodward is making an argument to void the 6 nations, they have about 4 games to play (and his side England are about to win it). The Swedish Ice hockey league has voided with no winner a long way in.

The truth is, the moment you don't void, you are going to give enormous weight to those seeking legal opportunities. It's not perfect, but the best legal defence they have is "a cancelled season holds no weight". It's not perfect, but it's deceptively strong.

This is becoming increasingly accepted across the spectrum now. It's why LFC outliers in the media are really pressing for a finish to the season whatever happens. They have been tipped off, if it's cancelled there is no title for them.
