To be fair, it's just taking a bit longer than expected for the Uber drivers to retrain.Mental, I thought all of these jobs were going to be filled by hard working Brits desperate for work. Weird.

A reminder that everyone's saviour of the moment is just as against the EU as Corbyn always was (which basically boils down, as it always did, to being fervently opposed to free movement).
He said he was okay with the European Community, ie the trading bloc, but not with the free movement that was introduced in 1992. That has always been the historic position of the far left because, as Lynch openly states, they assume that free movement will undercut wages. He said he wasn't against anybody moving to better themselves?

Technically. He spent his entire political life campaigning to leave though, as did the likes of Benn.Corbyn campaigned for remain didn't he?

He did campaign against it as was the parties postion and his duty to do so, whatever his historical position. Mcdonnell was also on record as wanting Labour to be the party of remain. We all know the old school position and I'm on record here as wanting corbyn to be stronger on remain but I don't think the modern generation of the left shares the old school view on the EU, at least not in my experience anyway. It is a constant mystery to me how people were convinced that Corbyn was pro EU.
Both labour voters wanting him to be a saviour and Tory/UKIP suggesting he wouldn't deliver Brexit.
I think there was a lot of naivety about what 'modern left' thinking with regards to the EU and an 'old school' Labour position on the EU.He did campaign against it as was the parties postion and his duty to do so, whatever his historical position. Lots of confusion... Depends who you listening too!I think there was a lot of naivety about what 'modern left' thinking with regards to the EU and an 'old school' Labour position on the EU.
I know Corbyn campaigned for Remain, but he was, at best, indifferent on the EU. It was politically convenient to be remain, but the party were confused about what they actually wanted.

I don't thinks there any doubt about the second paragraph, it utterly killed them not having a definitive stance.I think there was a lot of naivety about what 'modern left' thinking with regards to the EU and an 'old school' Labour position on the EU.

I'm not exactly sure what the 'modern left' is if I'm honest.I don't thinks there any doubt about the second paragraph, it utterly killed them not having a definitive stance.
In terms of the modern left, if we are talking the generation that is out therefor the protests or at the uni's, progressives if you will, my experience is that they are if not pro-eu then certainly anti-brexit. They can all see the opportunities stolen from them on this issue and the empowerment of a corrupt and cruel government that came with it.
