And subsequently the lineage for the current Windsor's through Edward Vii, who, to to bring it somewhat back on topic, when died caused a constitutional crisis which led to the 1911 Parliament Act ultimately giving dominance of democratic process to Parliament rather than the Lord's.

Sorry Joe, I can see this has upset you, but the timeline as I see it is thus:

1. You suggest it's a shame that Guy Fawkes was foiled (made last Thursday I believe so a little bit ago, but not that long ago)
2. Jebus says part of the plot was to install Queen Elizabeth of Bohemia (a 9 year old Catholic) on the English throne
3. Pete repeats the suggestion that parliament should be destroyed
4. Jebus says it would be destroyed but without installing a child to the throne, as in the original gunpowder plot, so that is an improvement on your suggestion

It's not the height of wit, I'll grant you, but there's no suggestion of any shady business (aside from the clear madness of wanting a child on the throne, as was the original gunpowder plot).

he just casually mentioned me with an 8 year old Catholic girl - come on Bruce look at the distance in the post ......not on -sorry you are out of order defending him and that post ....

There were zero sexual connotations to his post as far as I could see Joey

His point seemed to be that Guy Fawkes wanted to instill a 9 year old as the ruler of England, with the insinuation being that a 9 year old running the country would be a stupid idea (Although seeing how May has done maybe it would be, at worst, a lateral move at this stage?)

Obviously if he had been insinuating what you think he was you'd have every right to be angry (As would we all), but that doesn't appear to be the case, so I think you should just accept that you misread the situation and leave it

With the greatest will in the world, you can sometimes misinterpret what people mean on here now and then, and I think this is one of those occasions

It wasn't an attempt at wit, it was an attempt at historical agreement. In a daft sort of way I was trying to find common interest and relevance rather than the recent exchanges we've had and a nod to the current absurdity of Brexit in context of the last plot to blow up Parliament. I can see it failed dramatically. :confused:

The timeline is spot on though.
