I've lived in Liverpool all my life, which at one time was the the biggest slave ports and still inhabited by 'immigrants' i welcome those and love them all, proud to call them my friends.

A poem which sums up perfectly.

- Maya Angelou

Once you find your shoulders dropping
And your speech gets slow and hazy
You better change your way of being
Before you found your brain got lazy
You can build a better future when you join the winning team
If you desire a bright tomorrow, you must build a brighter dream
Dare to let your dreams reach beyond you
Know that history holds more than it seems
We are here alive today because our ancestors dared to dream
From Africa they lay in the bilge of slave ships
And stood half naked on auction blocks
From eastern-Europe they crowded in vessels overloaded with immigrants
And were mis-named on Ellis island
From South America and Mexico, from Asia, they labored in sweat shops
From all over the world, they came to America
Many shivering in rags, and still they dared to dream
Let us dream for today and for tomorrow
Let us dare to dream"

I see it as similar to the conversation I had with my broadband provider today.

I've been with BT for a while, they're ok but the cost keeps creeping up and there has been no related improvement in service. I got a mailshot through the door from vodafone asking me to switch to them, and they offered pretty much the same features that I currently enjoy but with a monthly bill just under half of what I currently pay.

So I called BT and said "Unless you improve your deal, I'm leaving".

BT promptly improved their deal.

THIS is the true value of a "Leave" victory - it gives our government and MEPs far more ammunition to try and effect significant, worthwhile change in the EU by saying "Look, your system is so pants that our electorate want out - fix it sharpish or we'll have to act on the wishes of the British people."

Sadly, many on the remain side don't get it. Or maybe Sadiq Khan has just scared them into doing as he tells them - after his aggressive, hostile display on the TV the other day I can only presume the people of London voted for him under threat of physical violence.

As if the government would ever stay in the eu after a leave vote no matter what the eu offers.

They're professional politicians, that would be suicide.

when you are posting about khan being aggressive and a bully i feel it is you who will get the thread closed for complete and utter stupidity you paranoid weasel.
Didn't use the word bully, did I? Nope.

If stupidity was reason enough to close a thread, it would explain why your appearance is often the death knell. Keep slinging insults around sweetcheeks, we'll see how long you last this time.

This tree is about to feel the force of the Righteous Lumberjack

I sure there's a lot of people who actually think that if we vote Out the country will be run by Boris and Farage.

I think it will have a huge effect on who Cameron's succesor is, given he's made it clear for ages that he wouldn't stand the next election and he hung his flag proudly to the mask on this one.

Would it?

Accepting we can never have a bigger say than any other member state, I would reconsider my position if the EU would took a 50% reduction in the king's ransom we send them every week and gave us back the ability to set our own immigration rules re EU nationals from other member states. And I reckon many "leave" voters would join me at that point.

Well, Boris will likely be next leader of the Conservative party. As for the other fella, shame he survived that plane crash.
