4.5mil isn't bad surely, hows he playing for them?
Maybe they're the same guy.
I don't get all this 'right footed centre back.... Left footed centre back' thing..... The position requires you to be able to play across the whole of the back line....... I honestly believe whichever foot you favour shouldn't even be a consideration.... You can either play there or not.Well. He was in the first team for an extended period, but he has not secured that spot quite yet. I think he'd make a very good possession CB in Martinez's system.
Sporting Lisbon is having financial issues (who isn't atm in that part of Europe?) so he probably could be bought if we wanted him.
On the other hand, we have Jags, Alcarez, Heitinga, and Stones on the books as right footed center halves, so even with Jonny off in January, I don't think its a priority nor have I heard the slightest rumour.

This. Whilst surely it's favourable to have a lefty and a righty, it certainly isn't essential. Terry has spent his whole career on the left side as have many others. Jags takes the left side for England without it affecting his performance. Personally don't think its that important.
And alcaraz is a CB who can also play LB and if I'm not wrong is also left footed so don't see the problem.
If heitinga goes, we will need another CB IMO. Jags distin stones and alcaraz is a good 4 to choice from but alcaraz has a more than questionable injury record. I'm hoping martins indi is a target but honestly can't see it till summer. Maybe RM will go with the 4 and use hibbert and Barry as Emergancy cover till the end of season.
Would anybody have Lescott back now? Seems willing to move, Citeh could be willing to sell, few years left in him and the style he's been playing with/training with for a few years would suit what Martinez would look for. Or have we moved on too much now.
My worry is, that Distin may not be here next year with his age (though likely he will be), while youth is preferable, experience is essential.
