EPL Managers who have exceeded expectations

Alex Ferguson.
Utd hadn't won the league for almost 30 years and had only won 7 in total. I don't think anyone expected him to win 13 titles

And yet not the greatest achievement in Premier League history is Moyes finishing 4th.

It's not demonstrably untrue at all. The great Carlo Ancelloti had us in 10th. Mourinho and Conte both flopped at Spurs with far greater resources. Moyes took us to fourth. Probably the worst squad to ever finish fourth in this league having finished 17th the year before. I don't there is an equivalent achievement in premier league history. Leicester won the league but they actually two world class players and a top quality striker. We had Marcus Bent up front.

Maybe slightly off topic but an interesting bit of information is that of the clubs in the top half of the PL, 7 are managed by players who used to be midfielders.

The outliers being Iraola and Moyes who were defenders and Chelseas' Calum McFarlane who didn't play.

Coincidence or something in it?
