English Players in English Premier League

Well i dont think its that bad...not for us anyway, but arsenal and liverpool are terrible...

I think we should have a rule that we must have only 5 non eu, and 5 eu players (ex. england), the rest english...

but who do everton have? alot! Especially in the first team...

Neville, Jagielka, Lescott, Osman, Johnson

...then we have the subs - Vaughan and Hibbert - and even Anichebe and next season Gosling will be pushing into the squad too...

...so im happy with our team :)

Sep Blatters 6 + 5 rule works for me. 6 home grown (minimum)and 5 others on the pitch at any one team.

In a slight touch of contradiction though in the 70's there were hardly any foreigners in the top league and England failed to qualify for 2 major tournaments. kinda screws everything up.

That would be a fantastic rule, Arsenal wouldn't have a pot to piss in and would come calling for Phil Neville at 15million :D

Fair play to Blatter, he has pushed it forward I have heard. Except (gonna love this), the EU has stepped in and tried to block it as it contravenes employment laws as it may be classed as discriminatory. Blatter will keep on fighting it though. I for one am with him for once.

I may even start a worldwide petition across as many clubs as possible to find out what the consensus is across fans.

that sounds like a great idea, I'd sign it definitely maybe the premiership wouldn't be so predictable if the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool had to rely on English talent once in a while instead of blowing untold millions on some wonder kid from Spain and France.

It would also see more English kids progressing through academies and actually being played by their clubs.

More faith in English talent is what is required in the premiership even if it's forced upon teams.
