End of season fixture backlog - 3 away games to be rearranged

And some folk want a winter break, just imagine the mess we'd be in if we had to fit 3 weeks of regular fixtures in as well.

I fail to see why they don't have many more midweek games in Aug/Sep/Oct. Players are fitter, pitches are better, the FA cup hasn't even started. Should be 2 games a week for the first 4 weeks at least.

This. I used to volunteer with Cammell Laird, and after a particularly bad season for postponements, where the NPL had to play a full extra week after the season ended to fit them all in, they changed it the following season so there is a midweek League match every available midweek between August and November, so any postponements due to weather or cup competitions can be fitted in easily in the second half of the season. Its bizarre that we never had a scheduled midweek Premier League week until January, and then we had 3 in about 6 weeks in the middle of a busy period with League Cup, Europe and FA Cup replays. The fact there wasnt even a week set aside for Arsenal to play Hull shows just how stupid it is. Any of this weekends games go to a replay, the only available midweek is a few days before the semi.

Someone said earlier about us playing Sunderland on semi weekend if we lose today, I think that will have to happen. If us or Arsenal win this weekend though, God knows where they are going to play them. I can just see them forcing us to kick off away at Palace at about 6 on a Champions League night. That rule truly is one of the most ridiculous ever made, us, Palace and Sunderland arent even in Europe, but we have to let them dictate when we can play a game of football.

Even more ridiculous when you consider the reason it can't kick off at 7.45, is because of a clash between Benfica Vs. Wolfsburg!

Who would give a damn about that game? I guess that's why Uefa are choosing this ridiculous rule.

Merseyside derby 3pm kick off on a tuesday at this rate

Im just concerned about getting the time off! Im actually sorted for all the weekend games between now and the end of the season, and I cant Liverpool being that bad, as with it being local, I can at least swap for an early shift. Sunderland and Palace especially will be a bugger though if I have to try and blag a full day off!

They allowed the Hull/Arsenal FA Cup replay to happen this week during Champions League ties, so that rule can be bent. The games might not be televised but they'll get them in somewhere.

To be fair league results don't really matter now as we can't get too 6 and the money for each place isn't so important! So if we have to play Saturday Monday Wednesday Sunday to fit games into a week then so be it. We can utilise the squad and maybe give some game time to some youngsters!

Dear Everton/FA,

I realise one of the 3 games will be rearranged for April 19/20.

Please can this NOT be the Merseyside derby, 3 or 4 days before the FA Cup semi final?

Cheers, Boys in Blue.

Either way - Sunderland is a game we might win but perhaps not just before the semi final. Palace likewise but we'd be travelling to London twice which isn't ideal and, well.. the other lot, hmmm. Perhaps we can arrange that for a Monday before a Thursday Europa game.

I still think my idea of playing Palace 2 days after the Watford game would be the best of a bunch of bad options. Saves on the travelling, only need to go down there once & stay over, take the whole first team squad & rotate the squad so that 20 odd players get a game.

Let's face it, the league has gone, we're unlikely to finish higher than 8th at best, so we might as well focus on keeping everyone ticking over for Wembley.
