Barda accuses Genk over Everton deal 14 January 2009 - 5:59 PM | Sport.co.uk

David Moyes looks set to finally bring attacking fire-power to Goodison Park with reports claiming that the Toffees manager is on the verge of signing Israeli international Elyaniv Barda.

The Daily Mirror claims that the 27-year-old, who currently plays for Belgian side Genk, will seal a move in a deal worth around £2m.

The 5ft 10” striker has scored an impressive 20 goals in 46 appearances for Genk since moving to the Jupiler Pro League from Hapoel Tel Aviv.

In recent weeks David Moyes has had to rely on goals from midfield with Mikel Arteta, Maraoune Fellaini and Tim Cahill all weighing in impressively. With Yakubu out injured for the rest of the season and question marks surrounding the long-term fitness of Louis Saha, it looks as though Barda should bring some relief.

Thats a sufficent foregin sounding name! get him in!

Its too random not to be true.

That said, I thought the same earlier when someone told me we are after Burnleys Martin Paterson.

Patterson plays for our national team (Northern Ireland) and looks quite promising, though never really gets much of a run-out as Worthington would never drop fans favourite Healy, even though Patterson is scoring for fun at Burnley.

Ive heard of this bloke before though I cannot remember if it was good or bad . Either way I trust Moyes enough to go with what he thinks is best for the team so get him signed . Welcome to Everton F.C the greatest club in the world :D

Prem: Barda's agent on Everton | Setanta

Israeli attacker Elyaniv Barda’s agent has dismissed reports which suggest he has been approached by Everton.

Genk striker Barda recently signed a new deal with the Belgian side, but reports claims that The Toffees have scouted him on a number of occasions.

The 27-year-old has been in great goalscoring form this season, and Everton manager David Moyes, in search of a striker to replace Yakubu Aiyegbeni, is rumoured to be interested in him.

Barda’s agent Jacques Liechtenstein has responded to the rumours by stating that the Premier League club have not been in touch with him.

Liechtenstein said: “Nobody spoke to me or to the player.

“It’s only rumours, I don’t know anything about Everton.”

Stupid person whoever started this stupid rumour.
