They already do it unoffically dave. Or are you really suggesting that liverpool, sefton, knowsley and wirral don't work together on big projects? Are united a manchester club by the way or in your eyes shouldn't be allowed to call themselves that?

I hear of Liverpool City Region and Greater Liverpool a lot...usually in the Daily Post business pages. I dont see any co-operation on major projects though, be it DK or the tramway. I think a lot of the 'entrepreneurial' class who run stuff like Liverpool Vision and Downtown Liverpool would like it to be so, but it isn't happening. Each borough guards its interests jealously. As for United, I think they get away with that Manchester stuff because it's a stonesthrow from the city centre. If it was 8 miles away, as Kirkby is from our city centre, they'd have trouble making that name tag stick convincingly.

So a move to say Stanley Road, Bootle would be acceptable then as its still over the border but is an acceptable distance to liverpool centre?

It wouldn't be my solution as there would be a loss of identity and we are a north end of Liverpool club. But at least it could be supported logistically as it would be better in terms of population grab and transport infrastructure.
