What imbeciles cannot see, or worse choose to ignore, is that there is no issue with being a proud German, yet that is not what Musk and Co. are spouting.
He talks about respecting and having pride in German culture values, but he then importantly talks about how Germanic views are diluted by multiculturalism.
That is, overtly, heading towards xenophobic views, and this is where patriotism and nationalism differ significantly. His support of the AfD highlight his stance!
By separating Germany from Brussels would only allow him and others to exert their own power; it would only allow the right-wing bigots to gain greater control.

The German establishment are falling over themselves NOT to ban the AfD even though their Thuringian branch is classified as "extremist". The German intelligence community is much more exercised chasing down some old woman from the 1970s who was once in the Red Army Faction. As always, in Germany, they are blind in the right eye.
The next chancellor, Friedrich Merz of the CDU, has many policies in common with the AfD. You'll hear many foreign observers lauding him for his support of Ukraine and talk of sending Taurus missiles there, but they miss the simple fact that he is very right-wing, will impoverish society rather than borrow money to fund Ukraine AND the domestic social infrastructure desperarely needed (which Germany can do at better rates than any country in the world), and then wonder why so many ordinary people are becoming more reactionary.
He'll be a disaster.

Even if you were German and had sympathies with his arguments, would you not think ‘what does he know about the struggles we face?’ If anything, id have thought this would strengthen opposition against him and whichever right wing party he is supporting.
Musk's own AI platform Grok (and others) scrape from wikipedia and elsewhere so when you query Grok with a certain question about Musk (e.g., who was the worst SNL host according to cast members?) it returns an answer that makes Musk look like the clown he is. Hence the targeting.
