Yeah, that Musk is now only worth £152,000,000,000……what an absolute loser…….

Hes a very driven and talented man, but seems to have over stretched himself here. A lot of that net worth is built into hugely overvalued stock IMO.

He also had an start, with a dad who owned a mine.

Either way, 40bn for Twitter was insane. I cant see him making much from that deal. I suspect he will destroy shareholder value.

30x "forward earnings" still seems massively optimistic, or is this common practice and i am not aware? take away the subsidy and miss a few earnings targets and we see another giant dip in value, somewhere closer to reality.

It's a big premium still, especially as it's based on forward earnings, which is essentially analysts guessed (you can ascribe any value you wish to those).

Ben Graham famously said the stock market was a voting machine in the short term, and a weighing machine in the long term. You are starting to see that now, as people on the Musk Ponzi scheme have to deal with the fundamentals of how much profit they get per pound spent.

The slight aside from this, is that companies like Tesla fuelled growth through low interest rates (now gone) and share dilution at ridiculously cheap prices. Essentially Musks wealth was accumulated on the backs of creditors and shareholder who funded the tab. It will be interesting how Tesla gets on now those huge share premiums are gone, and probably wont come back.

To answer your original point though, 30 forward earnings is huge. I think under 20 actual earnings would be an interesting point to have more of a look at Tesla, who do have some scale advantages in Everton space.

I always assumed his dad owned Skynet.

Pretty much owns a global media output that a lot of people use as there main news source these days.
In effect he has gained a lot of power with his money.
It almost like his aim in life was to be a James Bond baddy

He only wants the free speech that allows the right wing to speak freely.
The longstanding argument of that lot has been that the left feels exactly that way about free speech and, ACLU types aside, I concede it has merit.

If you buy into conventional American values, is there anything else to aspire to? On a good day you get to be Tyrion Lannister.

I think he was a part owner of a mine. Not sure which one.
Emeralds IIRC. Dad, not him.

Robert Reich, who for all his faults I will continue to tell you is an absolutely lovely person who puts his time where his mouth is, got into it on this one with Musk recently. Musk denies that past with respect to his personal finances, and Reich is having nothing of it when it comes to opening doors.

YMMV on how you interpret the data.

Does it actually? How often is this sort of speech actually limited or infringed upon? Freedom of speech does not, and has never meant that you can be free to say anything without a mob of people vehemently disagreeing with you and aiming for you to incur consequences...

I'm absolutely positive some on the left and far left actively attempt to shut down speech at a legislative and legal level, but mostly I just see people responding with their own speech and making their own demands.
