I think that link actually provides few valuable answers; to me the issue of TSLA has always been the combination of optimism, bad math, and a little bit of HODL. But probably you can attribute this to lazy fund managers--nobody wants to be the guy that "missed out" on that whale, but almost all of them get re-hired after their fund eventually fails and they get fired (with a large compensation package, aka "golden parachute").

A lot of people seem to feel the same about Elon and want to keep giving him money, and when it all goes belly up most will say "nobody could have seen that coming."
