Electric car advice

It was a road tax, it was renamed and couched in environmental terms solely in order to justify a hike in tax, sorry, duty, with the intention of not losing too many votes.

All road users all vehicles should pay fir the upkeep of the infrastructure.

Most funding today from river boat users goes towards keeping flood defences sound to protect housing, or maintaining riverside footpaths and bridges for the public to use. It used to be heavily subsidised by government, for the benefit of the nation, since it was recognised that not only boaters benefit from waterways. Now funding us so reduced that boaters pay exorbitantly for the lot, and fishermen hate the boats that go up and down but have paid for their access. Try getting me started on river licences!!
Not for the first time, you're wrong. The tax was only specified as an environmental one in 2001. Before that it was simply a social tax on car usage because cars are a pain in the arse, but the funds raised went into the central pot.

Touched a lycra sensitised nerve have I? I mean you're really dwelling on a technicality that is irrelevant to the discussion.

I presume you never drive one of these pain in the arse cars and but if you do you're delighted to get behind time thieves and watch your life ebb away while they selfishly live in their echo chamber convincing themselves that the road should only be for them and that all motorists are idiots, as the carefully selected helmet-cam suggests; and that going through red lights, driving on pavements and ignoring road signs (helmet-cam evidence never to be uploaded on youtube) is a legit way of scraping seconds off a pb and SURELY they'll be at the next Olympics.

As a side - I do get things wrong occasionally- and am always happy to be put right by fact. This is why now, after many years of listening, I am seldom wrong.

I don't drive in London, no. Cycling here is always far quicker than driving anywhere, or I take public transport. Given that 1,700 people die per year in motor incidents, maybe you should take anger management or something before you get behind the wheel of a lethal weapon.

Not for the first time you're wrong. I have never been angry behind the wheel of my car.

You can't dismiss my objection to selfish road users by calling it anger, or trying to belittle me like that. That really is suboptimal debate and it surprises me.

Well, it may indeed be legal to operate a bicycle upon certain roads in England but you should certain get approval from your local ethicist to determine if it is appropriate to operate a bicycle when there are so many better ways to serve both the local and the global communities.

Best laugh is the guy who started the thread purchased a desil car
Still say all road users over 18 should have insurance & number plates & pay road tax.....& pay road tax make it a level playing field modern bikes are now faster ,!,,

When can we watch you and Chris debate whether bikes are fast or slow. The only thing you agree is cyclists are a nuisance that should be taxed away.

I've been looking and researching vehicles for a few months and I'm now waiting on a new Peugeot 2008 petrol which I've got on order with Stellantis, but they have EV, Hybrid and GT options available.

It's well worth looking into and it's a lovely looking vehicle.
