I heard on BBC Football Focus today that eighth might be enough to get into the europa if Liverpool win the Europa this season.

The link above does not seem clear. The BBC also said eight might be enough if we get the fair play place for English teams.

Help me conclude this conundrum.

It could go down to 9th , plus Burnley . Unlikely , but possible .

The winners if the europa go straight into the europa group unless they finish in a cl spot, in that case the place doesn't go to a team from their country it just gets forfeited, if they finish in a europa place then the place doesn't go to a team from their country either, I posted a link saying this a while ago.

the r/s won't finish in a euro spot, they will get beaten in the final and then disgrace our country with their behaviour, and will find it most funny if they get everyone banned even if it's only for a year, which is why we call them 'The [Poor language removed]'

We dont need to worry about finishing in 8th, we can get 7th, maybe even 6th based on the way Liverpool and Villa are playing, there are only 2 points between us now, if we win get 7 points from the last 3 games we will be sorted

Reidy is often right....but the BBC said exactly what you have said....it could go down to 9th plus Burnley on fair lay. Explain!

I think so anyway.

England gets 3 Europa League spots.

There is a spot automatically for the winners regardless of where they finish in the league unless they qualify for the champs league.

So 5th is Europa, 6th is due to Man U winning Carling and 7th is due to Chelsea being in champs league and Portsmouth not being allowed in Europe(as thinsg stand).

So if the rs finish in a Europa League place in the league, and win the Europa they will of qualified twice.

Right?

But England still gets 3 Europa league spots to dish out so the rs qualify as winners and their league qualification spot drops down one place to 8th?

Right?

And 9th could therefor be a awarded a place due to fairplay?

it says that if the winners also finish in a europa place , they will go directly into the group and no extra place will be awarded to their country.

We get 3 Europa League spots (plus a possible fair play spot) if the rs finish in 5th for example and win the Europa league they qualify obviously and that's one of the 3 spots taken so we get two more spots for league positions ie 6th and 7th place. 8th will get in if the fair play spot comes into play. that's how I understand it. But then again, I am a bit dumb
