Martin Skrtel: FA to assess clash with Man Utd's David De Gea

The Football Association is to review an incident involving Liverpool's Martin Skrtel towards the end oftheir 2-1 defeat by Manchester United.

The Slovakian defender, 30, appeared to tread on United goalkeeper David De Gea during injury time at Anfield.

The FA say they are "looking at the incident", which prompted angry exchanges between the two players.

They are waiting to find out if referee Martin Atkinson saw what sparked the clash, which continued after full time.

As I have said consistently on here, Rodgers bottles just about every big game he has ever been faced with. Yesterday to finish in the top 4 they had to win and they blew it. No doubt they'll valiantly battle on, come 5th and blame it on [Poor language removed] referees or produce league tables of 2015 and show they are top and deserve it.

What is astonishing is again the complete un utter delusion amongst their ranks. In the pre match build up going on about their "run" of form and asking if United would be aware of it? Winning a few games back to back doesn't constituted an awe inspiring run, especially with some very fortuitous victories. In the absence of having them ramming it down your ear constantly you could easily be forgiven for not being aware they are even on a good run of form.

The second point is this bizarre idea they will still get top 4. At no point this season have they ever looked in the least bit likely to get near the top 4. That was their big opportunity and they have blown it. I suspect they will finish 7th now. A handful of places above us. Not that you would guess with their patronising and belittling attitude. The truth of it is, both sides will have messed up this season, finish outside the top 4/5 clubs and be mid table mediocrity. At least we have the good grace to acknowledge that.

Im all one for slating their fans as being delusional and having a laugh about them here and there but lets not openly lie. ' At no point this season have they ever looked in teh least bit likely to get near the top 4 '. They are 5th mate, until Utd beat them yesterday, were only 2 points behind. They were very much in form, unbeaten in the league in 13 or something i think. Ironic you saying they are delusional though.

Still 8 games to go and so im not sure your ' blown it ' weighs in to be honest. I wish we were sitting in 5th only 5 points behind 4th. So im all for laughing at their fans and some of the things being said but lets not openly chat nonsense.

Yesterday was as close as they've been all season and they have then subsequently blown it.

There is absolutely no chance they will make up 5 points in 8 games. Under Rodgers they will always bottle it when it comes to the crunch.
