Former Liverpool midfielder Stewart Downing has been the stand-out performer for the Hammers, and Rodgers admits he has regrets over the sale.
He said:
'Stewart is one that I didn't want to let go. He had a difficult start but on the second half of the season he was a regular. He's got a wonderful technique and is a good guy. It hasn't surprised me how well he has done.

he says. ‘I found it very difficult and the way it was handled - to come out in the papers and basically [Poor language removed] off your player by saying you don’t try - that was poor really.
In Allardyce he found a manager he felt he could again trust. ‘He’s been great and I’m not just saying that because I’m here,’ he says.
‘After Liverpool it was good to be dealing with a straight-talking man.
