ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

So many permutation and none really do it for me.

They beat Basle, they remain in the CL, but their form might improve and they might progress, which no-one wants.

They drop into the EL, and we'll almost certainly get them at some point.

They drop out completely, and that leaves them free to focus on the league.

Out of the three, the first is the more preferable, as the chance of them winning the CL is very remote. But not impossible...

Not a hope of winning the Champions League. I know they've fluked it before but they are truly awful and there's never been such a pool of abnormally good teams in the CL as there has been in the last two or three years. The RS would be nuked by any one of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, PSG, Chelsea or Borussia Dortmund(league placement nothwithstanding).

Yeah, I think on balance the best option is that they squeak through, draw a top team and get dumped out, there is no way they'll put a string of results together against Europe's elite, they are a very poor squad and Sturridge isn't going to change that, and it'll keep knobby in a job for longer.

5 games played, 4 points and -4 goal difference and they can still fluke their way through to the next stage lol

Ah well, Bayern will be waiting for them if they do and they'll get the entire fist.

Who gives a stuff what they do...Thet are shoite and its a joy to see it. They wont win CL or EL, they will struggle to win the League Cup.

That late goal by Rugrats was just so funny. Means nowt, but how I laughed.

Could I just add that they shoukd get a right good mullering when they go out, dodgy penalties, sendings off, injuries and a gap of at least four goals?

Just for the aftermath of abject misery, they are well overdue..

The team that won it in 2005 had some decent players in Gerrard, Alonso, Carragher, Hyypia, Hamann and Garcia

This team doesn't have any leaders and has a 34 year old Gerrard dragging them down

It will be worth seeing the buggers beat Basle if the dream tie comes out the hat.

Liverpool versus.......Barcelona.

;)

For those who believe Liverpool will scrape through are probably right, they always fight through this crap either through luck or spending money, some will have you believe its all about der faymus atmusfear at Analfield, i cant help but remember the time they thought they would breeze past Lyon a few years back, the argentine winger scored late on if i remember......

They really do have a horrible set of fixtures coming up though.
