ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Feck sake, the manager of our oldest & most historic rivals has allegedly slept with a well known scouse transgender. It's hilarious as a bit of gossip- if people start hating on Chelsey on this thread then by all means have a word- but otherwise leave it. When do we stop- if he slept with a genotypical & phenotypical female and took the piss, are we heterophobic? No one should be having a go at Ms Harwood bar to say the gossip could potentially ruin a mans family life.

Think you will find he has already done quite well on that front mate.

I'm not as fixed on that opinion as it might seem, but I'm closer to it that yours I guess. I was responding to the point about it being a homosexual act, which I don't think is accurate.

But yes, Rodgers speaks poorly about football tactics and may or may not be a poor husband.

Gotcha - By the 'homosexual act' point, I'm using it in the strictest, most literal term... A man with another man is a homosexual act whether he/she looks like a woman or not is irrelevant.

Obviously there's a grey area, I've seen that Ladyboys programme and Jesus Christ some of those girls are stunning however id feel a little cheated if I pulled one and a todger fell out when we were about to do the no pants dance.

Sorry Clint but I think you're protesting too much at this juncture

I believe caught is morally outraged, and fair play if so

I think you're trying to prod this into more of an argument than it needs to be

Just my opinion of course, I could be wrong, I could be right, I could be black, I could be white
He's not though. Him and Caught are quite correct to highlight the element of oppression in this. As long as we have such prejudice being openly expressed then it should be challenged. People just don't like to think that the basis of their 'humour' is bigotry and bullying - then respond with more o the same.

Kudos to Caught and Clint.

I'm not offering an opinion - I'm pointing out that it's oppressive to imply that there's something wrong with being a transexual. Whether you care about the transexual being oppressed is another matter. I do.

Do you think there IS something wrong with being a transexual? Because if you don't, you should be joining in with me and Caught.

There's nothing wrong with being transsexual, but at the same time there's nothing wrong with taking the piss out of Brendan Rodgers given the situation. Or Hugh Grant, for that matter. Sometimes, it's a source of humour, just like everything else in the world can be funny in the proper context. This world is doomed if we can't laugh. I mean, where does it stop?

THIS.

I still think everyone would be finding this just as funny if she was a woman from birth

Not a chance it would be as funny. Put it this way would you take the piss out of your mate for smashing a normal bird? Now if my mate smashed a transexual he would get ripped by me and all my mates.

Well said Cannuck.

Well, I laugh my head off in my job on a daily basis, mate, and yet I try (and hopefully succeed in) not to take part in prejudicial or oppressive stuff. It's pretty easy, mate.

Where does it stop? At that point where no-one is being oppressed. We don't do [Poor language removed] or darkie jokes any more. Why be homophobic or gender-prejudicial?

All human folly is there for mockery, compadre. Every deed, every pronouncement. Why dirty your hands with mocking people for what they are?

Surely, we're better than that.

Spot on this.

It used to be okay to laugh at a white person sleeping with a black person, hopefully the day will come where we'll say it used to be okay to laugh at somebody for shagging a transgender person.

Not on this planet, we're not.
And who, exactly, is being oppressed by this thread? Or am I being oppressed because I don't fully share your viewpoint and therefore can't find something humourous? Cuts both ways.
I'm beginning to wonder if you have an extra letter in the first half of your username.
