ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

He is great, but he cannot f*cking tackle.

He's often drifted out of games on the big stages, too.

Great shot on him, like. But a class below the likes of Pirlo for me.

Do you not think the likes of Ronaldo,Xavi,Inesta,Figo and Zidine are a good judge of a footballer

Of course, but I also trust my own eyes. I accept that he's hugely respected and mostly thought of as brilliant but I've watched a lot of his games and I just haven't seen it.

Except art is completely subjective, footballing ability isn't.

Have you ever watched a player, formed an opinion on them and then gone home been confronted by the fact that the rest of the footballing world disagrees with you and thought "well guess I'm wrong my eyes must be lying to me" ever?

Noone does, that's just not how people think.

Jesus wept

The England team should've been built round Scholes for a long time. Best English player of his generation and pivotal to Ushoited's success over the last 20 odd years.

Some of his "tackling" has made me rage over the years though.

If i thought a player was ace and everybody else thought he was gash i'd probably re-examine my opinion, yeah.

Gerard Pique: “One of the best players I’ve ever seen in my life! Spectacular on training!! Playing with him was a joy!â€

Cristiano Ronaldo: “Scholes is the best i’ve played with and he helped me a lot when I was young. He’s amazing.â€

Wayne Rooney: “The best I’ve played with – no question. His touch, passing, vision, composure is outstanding. I try to copy him.â€

Roy Keane: “Scholesy is just the model professional. I remember whenever we’re playing in Europe at half-time there are players running to get his shirt. That just goes to show how highly he’s thought of on the continent. He’s a master.â€

Ryan Giggs: “In training his team always wins, everyone wants to be on his side. He’s always first pick.â€

Xavi: “He can play the final pass, he can score, he is strong, he never gets knocked off the ball and he doesn’t give possession away. If he had been Spanish then maybe he would have been valued more.â€

Iniesta: “(Scholes and Giggs) are living legends. They have played a great number of games, have broken records, have won titles and furthermore they prove they in every game they are great professionals.â€

Messi: “At La Masia (Barcelona’s Academy) his name was mentioned a lot. He’s a teacher.â€

Figo: “I’m star-struck when I see Paul Scholes because you never see him. On the pitch you can’t catch him. Off the pitch he disappears.â€

Pep Guardiola: “Out of everyone at Manchester United, I would pick out Scholes – he is the best midfielder of his generation. I would have loved to have played alongside him.â€

Ronaldinho: “I want to pass like him. Who taught him how to do that?â€

Pele: “If he was playing with me, I would score so many more.â€

Maradonna: “His technique is unique.â€

BADLY SH1T LADS PROPER OVERATED
Still not convinced, obviously carlton palmer doesn't rate him then, hence no comment.

Peter Reid would have sorted Scholes out.

he's a pretty decent comparison in one sense. Bryan Robson got all the plaudits but Reid bossed him every time they faced each other. Similarly, Scholes just gets on with it whilst others get the glory. Of course, Reid could tackle, too.
