I think I'm with you on this one Tubey. I think he was a very good defender, but not a 'great'. He was never first choice for England either was he? 38 caps he got. If he is going to be known as a great then Rio Ferdinand and John Terry deserve to considered 'great' too.

Agree with this. Funny thing is before that season RS fans HATED him, thought he was holding back the team. If you mention this to them they deny it and say they always held him in high regard.
