Wouldn’t put it past the bar staff to tip off the cowards who attack innocent fans.https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/liverpool-fans-warning-after-being-14602744
Liverpool fan's warning after being 'attacked with metal bar' in Rome.
A Liverpool fan who was ‘attacked with a metal bar’ in Rome has issued a warning to supporters travelling for the Champions League semi-final.
Carl Johnson, from Prescot , is one of at least 5,000 Liverpool fans who’ve travelled to the Italian capital ahead of the Reds’ second leg clash with Roma on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old says that he was attacked with a metal bar while walking back to his hotel with his friend Peter Saunders, 29, at around 10.30 last night after leaving The Drunken Ship Pub.
So far it appears to be an isolated incident, and fans in Rome have reported a ‘great’ atmosphere with no violence so far.
Neither Peter or Carl were wearing anything which could identify them as Liverpool supporters and at this point it is not clear whether the attack was football related.
Carl told the ECHO: “We came out of the pub at around 10.30. Not many Liverpool fans were out so the two of us were on the way back to the hotel.
“We got a few hundred yards from the hotel which is on Violo Del Gallo and two scooters came out of nowhere. The two passengers on the back got off and attacked us, one had a small metal bar.
“We tried to fight back but the drivers got off. We ran off.”
Luckily for Carl, he received only minor bruising from the incident, however he contacted the ECHO in the hope of warning other fans to stay safe and in large groups.
He added: “We were wearing no LFC colours or clothing. We both had jeans and dark coloured jackets.
“I would just like to warn people to stay in numbers. It seems like the only way these cowards don’t attack.”
Despite the incident, Carl and Peter have said there’s a “great” atmosphere in Rome, and that the vast majority of fans have been polite and friendly.
do we think liverpool will be able to control the game like munichBayern were the best team over 2 legs, but once again the know how, luck, big game experience, call it what you want and real are through to another final. However real are going to have to up their game significantly in the final. Bayern were missing 5 starters tonight and yet still were the better team.
Ermm.
Agreed. I remember another football club wearing T-shirts to offer support to another victim.Seen all the roma players trained today in “forza sean” tops
Nice gesture

Irony of Liverpool fans calling Madrid players disrespectful for wearing ‘to number 13’ tshirts in the semi. This from a group they wave banners with 6 stars on, got league winners t shirts printed when they hadn’t even won anything and already talk about themselves as in the final.
