He does. Simply by mentioning that atrocity in the same sentence as Suarez.

They are not even in the same universe in terms of repugnance. He cheapens Heysel by any sort of comparison to Suarez and his words.

It's like what they all do, quickly brush over Heysel almost like it's just muttered under their breath then find something else to be victimised about

It underlines just how much weight they have given over the years to that disaster. How can anyone think that any sort of comparison to it would be mere words from some buck toothed footballer?

I think he's just highlighting the fact that a lot of their fans don't like admitting fault in anything else due to the monster load of shame tha heysel heaps upon their club.

He's just saying they should have room to accommodate more shame from other episodes.

Perhaps I am ignorant on this subject but maybe people can help me out here. Why does English football attract players from the lowest class, based on their behavior? You have players like Adam Johnson, who is a convicted pedophile. You have players like Wilshere, who had 2 kids by the age of 19. You have players like Ched Evans. You have players like John Terry, who is a racist. You have players like Giggs, who shagged his brother's girl. You have players like Rooney, cheating on his wife. Now, you have Jon Flanagan, the woman beater. The list is endless.

You would rarely find athletes of this nature in America, playing professional NBA, NFL, NHL or athletes from other European nations like Germany. So why does English football attract so much of this?

Maybe that was his intention. But it's clumsily put to say the least.

If I was looking to a way of comparing levels of shame (as he was) between the Suarez affair and something else that Liverpool have been involved in it would have been to say that "LFC's behaviour toward the local community and destroying it for financial gain brought the club and my identity into disrepute more, but Suarez's actions were also shocking".

You can see the sense in terms of proportion with that. Comparing Suarez and his "negrito" comments almost on the same scale as the taking of human lives was crass.
