He's a fascinating fella that bloke and I've heard him interviewed on radio 5 a few times as Richard bacon loves what he says and he's also apparently been invaluable to the cyclists. I do wonder though how pampered millionaire , generally working class lads with fairly closed & insular mindsets without the benefit of much education/reading (huge generalisation but pretty accurate ) will take to him ? Personally i think it'll be a tough sell to the players.
Somebody once was telling me how Mourinho (when he arrived at Chelsea ) set up all kinds of mecical tests including opticians and dentists and the players were pretty sceptical but given his record and what happened there they pretty quickly lapped it up whereas now if Mourinho told players to stand on one leg for an hour in training they'd do it without question . Whereas mcClaren played 5 at the back for England in Croatia the players weren't convinced and when one looped unfortunately over the keepers head to cost them the game they seemed to lose all confidence in the manager who didn't last much longer. What I'm trying to say is players are a delicate fickle bunch and if their succesful they'll buy into most things but if they think the manager is wasting his/their time or has got it wrong they can be quickly lost. Let's hope that's exactly what happens here.

Personally, I think there's a part to play for psychology in sport.. But it's pretty much restricted to individual pursuit rather than team effort. For a team you can do it in one off, spontaneous moments. Like HK opening the window of the dressing room (I think at Notts County in the cup) and telling the players that if they couldn't do it for that mass of vocal travelling support they shouldn't be playing football in the first place. Anything more systemic than that in a sport like football is just going to ring very hollow and self-conscious. It's all about capturing the mood and channeling it to players. The best managers can do it.
