ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Very sad indeed.

Red fans will know the support we give them when it comes to this. Banter gets put away. A few idiots will not ruin that.

Every club has idiots following them. The bigger the club, the larger the percentage.

It is sad mate you're right. Thankfully the majority of us are very understanding and respectful when it comes to Hillsborough.

Those lot know and appreciate that as well. I'm sure of it.

Don't forget folks, Hillsborough could so easily have been us. Indeed my mate went to Sheff Wed away a season or two earlier in the league and said the same thing nearly happened then - and while horrified, he wasn't at all surprised when disaster struck.

I know Heysel left a bad taste for us, however that was some (admittedly fans from Liverpool) idiots, and there were public prosecutions for that - people were brought to account, our unfair treatment notwithstanding. So I think on the whole we've been wise to separate Heysel and H'boro - they just weren't the same thing at all.

Obviously we can't discuss the factors in the ongoing public enquiry until it's finished, but the Hillsborough independant inquiry panel saw a raft of public apology from almost the whole nation including the Prime Minister. As much as I loath the fella, public apologies from the PM don't happen lightly.

Innocent people died attending a football match that day, and we've stood by the other lot since day one, and rightly so. The aftermath wasn't an attack on LFC, it was an attack on Scousers too, that shouldn't be forgotten - red or blue, we all stood together and rightly so.

You'll never change the quirky attitude of football chants, and while often inaccurate or distasteful they're often quite funny. And yes, rib them mercilessly for causing Heysel, but never, ever confuse the feeling about Heysel with the events at Hillsborough in April 1989 - that really, so easily, could have been us. Just imagine that for a moment and reflect. We were lucky, we went to Villa Park that day.

I for one am proud of the stance we took and continue to take on the whole.

People who i know who was at Barnsley in an earlier cup tie in 1989 tell me it almost happened to Everton there also. There's a common denominator there.

Agree with everything you say,I remember coming back from Villa Park that day, when we arrived back it was horrible as it all unfolded,Monday morning my family (all blues)
Went over to Anfield with our floral tributes, and laid them in front of the Kop.What I also remember is the large number of Evertonians in Their colours also paying. Their condolences, sad sad times, never forget.

.

Sums it up perfect my friend.

Any blues idiots who wave that rag or chant vile songs need to be educated that blues supporters lost family members, friends, work colleges, and school buddies through Hillsborough. I will support the reds forever over Hillsborough and any blue who can't is no friend of mine.

Haven't fans of a few clubs raised concerns they've had about that end of the ground ? . As @Groucho states , it could have been Everton fans . It could easily have been Forest or Norwich fans, too . Would the vitriolic reaction of the media and authorities have been the same ?
Yeah, loads of clubs said it. Spurs narrowly missed a similar thing in 1981.
