ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Another 9-figure budget this summer, probably.

One slight slip-up from Rodgers and it'll be the sack for him I expect. The yanks are probably itching to do it anyway after last season. The amount he's spent in so little time is mind-boggling.

The fee is no bother for City right now as they're upgrading the stadium and some creative accounting will see they won't fail FFP regulations (see Liverpool absurdly being allowed to write off £50m for their shelved stadium plans) but it's just annoying that they're giving so much to Liverpool.

However on closer inspection Liverpool havent fone that well. £12m or so to QPR = £37m, still a lot but theyve basically already spent that and more on Bogdan (lol) Ings (lol lol lol) Firmino (massively unproven) Milner (reasonable signing) and Clyne (massively overrated).

Talk of signing Benteke is probably just a smokescreen as theyre £200m in debt and won't be able to buy again until they sell. And they have nobody who can realistically raise £32m. They're stuck with Balotelli, Lambert, Enrique, Allen etc as nobody will be prepared to offer the crazy money that they're on atm.

With Europa league to contend with next year I can see them struggling big time. Especially if they don't sign anyone up front. Their defence isn't the greatest either tbh.

Even with that, Liverpool still getting 40m....thats over twice what sterling is actually worth....this deal is utter madness from City....Mourinho will be laughing his hole off, as will Rodgers & everyone at LFC & in the media...
not necessarily.... city have money to burn... this is them flexing their financial muscle and making a statement that if they want a player they wil get him.... plus the fact it's weakened Liverpool considerably.

We all know City are just buying up English players to fill their quota, yeah?

He will rot on the bench. £49m is nothing to them.

In all honesty, he ain't gonna get regular first team footie there, so so much for his "it's not about the money" comments.

This whole saga has been pathetic for the sport, and for once Liverpool are not the party who've acted in an embarrassing manner.

50m. 10m to QPR (no doubt they'll work it out with add-ons from City to reduce the amount they have to pay QPR), Ings and Bogdan free, Firminho 25m, Clyne 12m, leaves them probably about even with wages taken into account, etc.

I am sure they'll spend another 30/40m this window, no doubt.

To be fair he one of the best young players in this league. He English, pace, strength, can create. He be a good signing for city.

True. BUT...the point is, he's moved to a side with better players and he's not the finished article.

The problem there will be, will he develop and how much game time will he get?

He won't be the first or last player at his age to make the step up and never improve. That list is endless.

Wonder what this means for Ings tribunal fee, Spurs bid £12m just before us co Graf expired, and the previous record was about £6m for Sturridge but they based that on the price of top young English talent fetching £30m 5 years ago.

Could mean they'll have to pony up £10+ for a free transfer who's nothing more than a bench warmer...

again.
