It wasn't just Suarez though, the fact they prepared for one game per week and not two like Chelsea and City was crucial.
With that fair wind behind them and the record number of pens it was almost impossible not to go close, despite having that gormless manager in charge.
It was Mourinho's first season back in the PL; Pellegrini's first season in charge of City; ginger bollocks busy destroying United; a record number of injuries for Arsenal; Suarez having the season of his career; 12 pens; 94 yellow or red cards shown to their opponents; one game per week to prepare for....
Let's face it...the ball was on the penalty spot, the goalie was standing by the corner flag and they hoofed it over the bar.

It was the perfect storm last year. What you say, plus Utd being rubbish as well, blessed with a decent injury record, and he still mucked it up.

The one with the glasses on near the top left: Stephen Hawking?![]()

It is funny though. Any competent manager would have seen them get over the line......if he manages to con the yanks into letting him stay then FSG will be in deep crap.......
That's made me feel a lot better. In the run in they won 11 on the spin and only needed a draw against Chelsea to keep it in their own hands. A game they were in full control of until slippy fell on his arse and gave it to Demba Ba...
And even if they beat Palace, it still wasn't in their own hands. (unless they got a rugby score)
So don't think you can blame Brenda for 'not getting them over the line'
Not bothered when he gets sacked next season only as long as he pisses away more of their money over the summer.Might have to sack him if we stuff 'em. Dilemma for us lot probably.
