I really don't understand how any proper football fan can not say that Scholes & Lampard were better than him as English midfielders, then you have foriegners like Viera & Keane and then if you just say player you have Henry, Bergkamp, Shearer, Zola, Terry, Schmeichel, Cantona, Rooney, Van Persie, Aguero........... who are/were better players than Gerrard. There are so many more that were on par with him, the likes of Overmars, Petit, Makelele, Essien.

It is not even close that he is nowhere near being the best ever, as I told two guys last night (who were saying he was the best), he isn't even the best English player in his position.

His Liverpool manager thinks he isn't the best either:
