ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I think the key difference is though that we tolerate, accept and in many ways champion debate and disagreement. How many Martinez out polls did we have?

I supported Martinez throughout (as did yourself) but never at any point did I think it would have been acceptable to use bureaucratic mechanisms to stifle opposition viewpoint. Nor do I think I am a better fan than those who wanted him out, or that I'd somehow proven my loyalty to a higher power. I think Martinez is the right man for the job but I don't carry on like he's some sort of saviour sent from god to give us what we deserve, a latter day Moses figure.

That in essence sums up the ley differences between the two teams and the outlook we both have. I support Martinez for footballing reasons, just as others oppose him for that. But nobody is trying to proclaim some higher truth of Shankleyism and debate and disagreement are welcomed.

They've been like that for decades: idolising managers (Hodgson apart), a big cultural distinction between us and them. As far as I'm concerned all Everton managers are there to be critiqued severely. The shutting down of debate on RAWK of any non-worshipping discussion of Rodgers has been ridiculous. I read a thread on Rodgers yesterday/today that for the first time allows criticism. In it some of the posters reveal they were banned at an earlier stage for just questioning whether he was the man for the job a couple of years back.

Unreal.

Remember when all our ancestors fought against fascism and genocide in two wars across the globe to secure freedom for their country and descendants, and then the kopites used this freedom to get tarted up in burgundy dressing gowns and parade a portrait of a portly spaniard around town for a bit?

Spent much of today being amused thinking of this photo...
Just picturing them dejectedly leaving Wembley in their silly costumes.... sitting on a train for 3 hours holding their flags & not speaking a word...getting home, greeted by an embarrassed wife/mother whose face just said "I told you so".....

Bet earlier yesterday they even had super hero names for themselves....Anfieldman & Kop boy, Captain Liverpool & Red Rider....

Brendan reckons the players bottled it...."froze" and didn't rise to the occasion.

Good old gnashers. No wonder he had a rebellion on his hands two weeks ago.

Tbf, Gerrard and co. haven't had the experience of playing in high pressure game like Brendan has.........

This is the perfect photo of the RS. All dressed up with a plastic bag full of overpriced souvenirs looking as miserable as sin prior to their flight home.........disneyworld would have been easier and cheaper.......

there is an article on the bbc dissecting where the RS have gone wrong. This comment in the free for all at the bottom just about sums things up.

Very average Prem players and threadbare squad overall. Way too much media exposure for a club that ranks between 5 - 8 place each season. Their time in the sun is behind them by some decades now.
