ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I like your prognosis for them Dave,I'm with you on that:dance:,just hope they sink fast, mind you I've been praying for that for 45 yearslol

Liverpool are in a bad way if they miss CL qualification this season for a a whole number of reasons (finances, players committing, just missing out and getting the EL poison chalice). If United get another point or three ahead of Liverpool after next weekend (which you have to say is likely given Liverpool travel to Arsenal and United face Villa at home), then they have a mountain to climb. United have tough games after that, but that's where Van Gaal has been excelling this season: matches against the top clubs.

It's very realistic now to see this season spinning out of control for them. They have the cup to play for still, so they may get a boost from that...but let's face it: the cup is **** all these days for clubs wanting to become part of the competitive elite. It's all about CL/PL trophies.

Theyre having yet another end of season implosion. Rodgers must be absolutely spewing it when the problems in the main are self inflicted. FSG will be livid at their "product" hitting another skid regarding CL football and their knock on dollar return disappearing in turn. I cant see them bankrolling Rodgers to the same degree again when the players you've mentioned are let go without any return either.
You look at what they have apart from Gerrard, Sturridge and Sterling and it's frightening for them that all three have no future with them (one defo).

I'd honestly say only Coutinho is top class after that. The rest could fit into a team like Newcastle comfortably and not rise above that quality.

FSG must look at it all and think "WTF happened to that £250M we gave that asshole?"

Rodgers wont last there too much longer. If he fails to win the cup and finishes 5th/6th he's toast, imo.

Liverpool: they look like a crisis waiting to happen.

If Arsenal turn them over next game and United get further ahead of them they're almost certain to miss out on a CL place. Then you look at next season without CL football to offer and they're very vulnerable. Sterling has gone almost for sure now; Henderson is dragging his feet on a contract; Gerrard is off (which denies them at least some figurehead they take inspiration from); that forward line needs selling and replacing (goes without saying that Balotelli, Borini and Lambert will all leave; Sturridge, IMO, is finished as a player given his injuries); the GK is suspect and drifts in and out of form.

They are walking a very thin line at the moment. Suspensions to Gerrard, Skrtel and the injury to Sturridge could tip them right over the cliff. And they've been found out with that system they play.

Not looking good at all for them. Not one bit.

They've been in far worse states than this with much worse squads over the last few years, and they still seem to stumble across a Suarez or a Torres to save them temporarily. As annoying as it is, they could just as easily throw another £200m on the roulette wheel and end up with another one of those world class £20m players in the summer to get them out of jail for another few years

Thats correct Dave, all things being equal they "should" fall apart, however you know what the "L" stands for with them, that is always my biggest fear with them:(

FSG got Liverpool at knock down fire sale cost. They've pumped about £70M net spend in. The rest has been selling to buy. So Liverpool have Sterling to use as a cash cow looking to the future windows and not much more. I cant see FSG dipping into funds for Rodgers. Not a chance.

They could unearth a new goal scoring genius, yes...but that's some plan for success in the seasons ahead isn't it?!

I think must be badly biased here cause no one else shares my opinion but I genuinely don't even think Jones's header they keep going on about was a foul.

He won the ball then flattened Lallana. He didn't flatten him before he got the ball, he got the ball first.

I just can not see what's wrong with it if you are allowing Gerrard's first tackle and saying that wasn't a foul (which I don't think it was) then neither was Jones's.
They turn everything on its head to justify their actions that shower,I do believe the rest of the country are finally starting to see them like we have for years, for what they really are.

The big difference is in the past they've only had 2 other clubs spending the same amount of money to keep them in the elite postions, now City, Spurs and Arsenal are all throwing cash about to buy a seat at the top table.

If they don't get CL football this year and with the cost of the stadium development they'll look to offload a player (Sterling probably) to fund yet another overhaul. But I doubt they'll give him all the money next time.

Coutinho can have one great game followed by three anonymous games Dave IMHO,although I can see him being offski in the summer if their world falls apart too!!

I have said this for two seasons now, i seen a little of him at Inter (literally a little he hardly played) and by his own admission he struggled, his weapon is the cutting inside and putting it into the top corner, comes off about 1 every 4 or 5 attempts. He is to them what barkley is to us, a cracking prospect but needs that consistancy.

As for 'The' Liverpool football club, im happy to watch them just miss out on top 4 each year, it is similair to us and Moyes, we just missed out but its simple, we sell player A and bring in Players B and C and were sorted. Dont worry about formations or attacking play, we just need to sell Balotelli and bring in Cavani and Sanchez.

This time next year and all that.......

Looks a good player to me. I think any inconsistency is down to lack of intelligent movement ahead of him. He's probably the only one of their players who'd get a place in the top PL teams. Great balance, good vision and execution.

although we're still talking potential I think the kid Ibe has all the components in the modern day game to be a top class player.

Yeah, he looked good pre-season for Liverpool and for some unfathomable reason they loaned him out. He's got the advantage right now of being an unknown quantity to PL defences and they'll work out a player who just has pace very quickly, but he's as good as anyone they've had coming through of late.

In fairness to him Dave,he's looks like he's got more to him than Sterling, looks like he's got a "brain" as opposed to the other fella to me,like you say though these kids have got to produce over a longer period before they can be talked of as actual "top players"
