Probably now. Was responding to some of the posts earlier in the thread I had read on Torres.

There were clear rumours in the press (maybe not realistic) that they were desperate and looking at Torres.

It was therefore clearly not off topic.

You know how Monday night was a big game for us cause it meant we could go above the rs, as sky liked to remind us.

Wonder if they'll do the same on Sun for them going above us?

I stopped reading after he said Kolo Toure was a success.
4 HITS IN 23 (excluding the Lethal Lille Sharp Shooter) ... not much of a success rate

Everton's last 23 buys/loans

at least half are hits

Denis Stracqualursi (loan) MISS
Royston Drenthe (loan) MISS
James McFadden (free agent) MISS
Landon Donovan (loan) HIT
Darron Gibson (£2M plus loan fee) HIT (THOUGH INJURY PRONE)
Nikica Jelavic (£5.5M) MISS
Steven Naismith (free agent) HIT
Steven Pienaar (£4.5M plus loan fee) HIT
Kevin Mirallas (£6M) HIT
Brian Oviedo (£1.2M) HIT
Thomas Hitzlsperger (free agent) MISS
John Stones (£500K) HIT
Arouna Kone (£5M) INJURY - UNDECIDED
Antolin Alcaraz (free agent) INJURY - UNDECIDED
Joel Robles (£1M) MISS
Gerard Deulofeu (loan) HIT
James McCarthy (£13M) HIT
Aiden McGeady (£1.5M) UNDECIDED
Gareth Barry (£1M plus loan fee) HIT
Mo Besic (£4M) HIT
Romelu Lukaku (£28M plus loan fee) HIT
Christian Atsu (loan) MISS
Samuel Eto'o (free agent) HIT

Players sold in this time frame (3.5 years):

Vaughan £2M, Beckford £1.5M, Yakubu £1.5M, Arteta £10M, Billy £6M, Pienaar £4.5M, Yobo £2M, Rodwell £12M, Fellaini £27M, Anichebe £5M, Jelavic £6.5M, Duffy £1.5M

Approximate spend £73M
Approximate transfers received £79M
Approx Net Spend -£6M

So there we have it - £6M in the bank and a whole lot better at it than the RS.

Factor in Jelavics fee from Hull, overall, would score him a HIT as well tbf. That lot wont get anywhere what they paid for pretty much all of their MISS's, nor for the few HITS come to that. Sturridge a big maybe aside.

I'd say Drenthe, Straqulursi and Jelavic were hits because they actually achieved something during their time here and done something good of note.

Some of theirs have done bugger all.

To be fair, I do very much care if we are above them are not.

Of course, i care somewhat too and it's worth a mention like it got on Monday.

Yet you guarantee the talk will be if they win they have turned the corner and are back on for the CL again. As opposed to going above local rivals like when we won.

(Of course if we win on Sat they can't go above us)

You make a good point - although the Hit and Misses were my opinion it is reasonable to state those we signed permanently have, almost to a man (a couple of undecideds and Robles who was a very small fee) have been successes.

Yeah i understand your choices, i'd expect less from a loan so i guess its easier to be a hit.

But even being harsh its incredible how our managers can in the main make good purchases with less money than theirs spend on total crap.

You'd think they'd have to actively be trying to be that bad sometimes.
