Mignolet's turn under the bus..

Brendan Rodgers demands immediate improvement from Simon Mignolet

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/nov/27/brendan-rodgers-simon-mignolet-liverpool

This made me chuckle:

"There are times when you are doing well and can put all of your technical players in the team but when the confidence is low it is important that your team is made up of those guys who are going to work and press"

So.. loads of my best players can't be arsed unless we're doing well.. nice one Brenda, you motivational genius.

He's also telling the lads coming in he thinks there nothing more than work horses

Wow! This fella has probably been banned and kicked off RAWK now. A brave man indeed for going against everything the cult stand for

That Everton game was great. They're playing with that spirit we had last year.
A lot saying success (relative) came too early from Brendan.
Martinez perhaps having the anonymity right now
Bluenoses a good punt for that UEFA cup

BLASPHEMER!

He will be "eliminated";):D

To be fair, if anyone praised LFC here they'd get shouted down...

"Stoke City's preparations for Saturday's game against Liverpool have been disrupted by a virus.

Asmir Begovic and Geoff Cameron were forced to miss training today after falling ill, while Phil Bardsley was sent home.

The Potters are without Victor Moses who has been ruled out until the New Year with a thigh injury. Oussama Assaidi is ineligible to play against his parent club.

City hope to have defensive duo Marc Wilson and Erik Pieters available after they returned to training this week.

Manager Mark Hughes hopes told the club's official website: "We're struggling at the moment with a little bit of a virus. It started with the Under-21s and we've had to close down their operation really and keep everyone away from the first team.

"Unfortunately, there's been a little bit of sickness in the senior squad this morning and two or three players have been sent back home.

"We hope we've caught it in time and didn't spread to the rest of the group. We're hopeful that it’s not the same virus the Under-21s have had.

"Asmir Begovic and Geoff Cameron have gone down with sickness and we sent Phil Bardsley home just in case. He probably could have trained but there is no point taking risks as we haven't got that many bodies to play with."

Wonder if they are celebrating this on Rawk yet.

Made me chuckle.

Seeing that they are not doing well in the CL some of the RS supporters have had enough.

"If something doesn’t make sporting sense, look at it from the money point of view and it’ll become crystal clear.

Aside from the folding of the green stuff, the Champions League group stage is a damp squib. A mirage. A sleight of hand.

It has all the glitter, the glamour, and the hyperbole, but it’s more often than not a pointless exercise.

Believe me, there is so much that thankfully remains in the dim and distant past, but the group stage is nothing more than extra protection for the big guns, and while it offers a slice of the financial pie to some less-fancied clubs, it allows the powerhouses to have their cake and eat it, and every year it increases the distance between the top table and the rest.

I know it’s different when your team is involved but the rest of us should get out a bit more of a midweek. Join a yoga club, sign up for night school or take up dogging. We’re getting screwed on an annual basis anyway.

Former Liverpool and Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy described this season as ‘a celebration of failure’, and I think he’s bang on the button".

LFC is in a real pickle right now.

I think everyone knew how much they depended on Suarez last season (who wouldn't?) but wow have they fallen off. There should be some genuine concern across the park. Lallana will turn out well and Lambert was minimal in terms of outlay but Lovern, Balotelli, etc... have really underperformed.

I just don't think the January transfer window is going to help them much.
I think their title challenge + second place finish last season has actually ruined things for them.

The previous three seasons they were about the same as us, a team finishing in the EL places. That's their true level, not 1st or 2nd. The goal from that point was to try to get into the top 4. Now had they finished 4th with 70-75 points there wouldn't be nearly this amount of pressure on them in the league nor in europe. But since they massively overachieved and nearly won a title last year, their insane supporters and ex-players in the media went into this season with the idea that anything less than a title challenge would be a disappointment. So instead of being able to develop and improve incrementally, i.e. try to solidify themselves as a consistent top 4 finisher, they're under a huge amount of pressure that would not be there if they hadn't come close to winning the league last season. Even if they some how manage to turn things around and nick 4th (which is looking very unlikely even in the best of circumstances) coupled with their poor showing in the CL group this season will be seen as a disappointment.

Can't say I feel sorry for them, for all their attention-whoring and favourable media coverage they deserve to be under the microscope. League winners shirts in March? Lining the street to greet the coach at home games? All the crowing this summer about how they haven't done a Spurs? They do it to themselves really.

Once they accept that last season was entirely due to Suarez they can move on BUT it's not in their DNA to be sensible.
