How often does this creep phone Hodgson?
Imagine Hodgson's face when he is told that Gnashers is on the line AGAIN.
As Gnashers isn't English he has no interest in OUR national side doing well.
Roy Hodgson is well within his rights to block all calls from this fraud of a man.
Just like they did with Michael Owen
Sterling is barely out of nappies and already he's having far too much pressure placed on him from supporters of both club and country
Both sets of fans are so desperate that they are clinging to him as the answer to all their problems. Perhaps in 2-3 years he could be, but at this point he's still practically a bairn and everyone needs to back off and just let him play togger
Not sure why I'm so annoyed by it as you'd think I'd be happy to see Liverpool supporters torpedo the career of such a promising player, but this just doesn't sit well with me, especially now the media is getting stuck into him as well over this "too tired to play" situation.
Shearer said: “Too tired! He is 19 – and it’s October. I genuinely have never heard something like that in my career … This will stick with Sterling for some time, believe me. The working man who is up at 6am and home at 8pm does not want to hear how tired a 19-year-old professional footballer is.”
What does wind me up is all the apologists in the media for Liverpool, if anyone thinks Sterling would have done this without the back drop of the Sturridge/England/Rodgers/Tiredness/recovery time story then they're deluding themselves.
Correct. He's just a weak character like his teammate Sturridge. Sterling has been put up to telling Hodgson he'd like to sit the game out...put up to it by Rodgers who doesn't have the intelligence or humility to get in touch with Hodgson himself to petition for his player to be rested.
I'm delighted Rodgers has come out of this looking like an utter tit. Hodgson knew gnashers was pulling the strings on this 'tiredness' business, handed his player back to him after using him for a game and a half, and left them both tarnished. Hats off to Hodgson on this - he caned Rodgers for his arrogance over the Sturridge injury with some neat media spin.
Defo. There'll be a lot of resentment amongst other clubs that he's looked for special treatment. Obviously part of Rodgers' strategy here has been to deflect from Liverpool's dodgy start. Deflecting criticism is his default position. He's come off a very distant second best here with Hodgson though.I reckon Rodgers can't even get out of his bath without looking like an utter tit, to be fair. I think it's a pretty subtle maneuver on Hodgson's part and it's definitely a shot across Gnashers' bow. There's so many managers with far more numerous and pressing injury concerns who have said little and nothing about the international break. It's embarrassing how much Rodgers and his cronies pipe on about it.
