Just found this while searching for photos for the Leicester preview, and thought you may like it.

Wow what a find this It.

Seems even back then they were riding the luck wagon. Loved the part about making a mockery out of the fans.

Another good part, Ian St. John ' achieving nothing '.

I see the back page of the Echo has Brent claiming his brilliant style of football has the world's best players clambering to play for them.

Something about the top players watching them last year "and wanting to be a part of what they are doing here".

There's only one fatal flaw with Brent's theory here...

lol I suspect Gair Henderson was a Celtic fan!

Doubt it. Rangers 1962 tour of the Soviet Union. "The Evening Times had sent Gair Henderson as their special correspondent with the Ibrox club and he commented on Davis’ impact in the tour".

LFC fans do something bad, blame Celtic.

Does he look in a mirror and see George Clooney as well? The man's mad.

Rodgers is seriously unhinged.

“That ability to attract top players is great,” Rodgers said. “It’s a huge indication of the progress of the club – a really good symbol of where club is at. We have made huge strides in the last couple of years.

“If you’re a football player in Europe watching how we played last season and saw our supporters, your reaction would be that you’d want to play in that environment.

“It’s the most competitive league in the world and this is one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“It’s a team that plays exciting football. I’m happy with the players we have got in, and we’ll be set up for an exciting season.”

Prior to Moreno, Liverpool had already spent around £90million on deals for Rickie Lambert, Emre Can, Adam Lallana, Lazar Markovic, Dejan Lovren, Divock Origi and Javier Manquillo.

Winger Markovic, a £20million new arrival from Benfica, and defender Lovren, who cost the same amount from Southampton, have been two of Liverpool’s most expensive and high-profile summer buys.

Rodgers says both were inundated with offers from across Europe but only had eyes for Anfield.

“Lovren was a guy sought after by a number of clubs but for him to say he only wanted to come to Liverpool was great,” Rodgers added.

“Young Markovic had two or three other clubs there waiting to take him, clubs where he had mates from his international team, but he wanted to come to Liverpool.

“These guys watch football throughout Europe. They watch us and want to be part of what we’re doing. It’s the growth. It hasn’t just happened by accident. A lot of work and time has gone in both on and off the field. The most important thing is to have an identity. There is real excitement around the club.”

Real, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Man City, Monaco etc. all the big spenders and/or clubs that players 'dream of playing for' were clamouring to sign Southamptons finest, lump it to Lambo, Lallana and Lovrens. I noticed LFC were in a bidding war with all of Europe's top teams for Origi, Markovic, Can and Manquillo.

Only in the delusional head of Rodgers, and agents hyping their players, are these 'top players'. Top players like Sanchez snubbed the RS.

“Dejan Lovren was a really good player for Lyon. He was a guy sought after by a number of clubs but for him to say he wanted to come only to Liverpool was great.

I like the fact that he doesn't mention that Lovren didn't come from Southampton but mentions his previous club Lyon.......excellent piece of spinning there Brent..........
