ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

The issue is can they look at his history when giving out the punishment, can they say well this guy done this twice in 2 different leagues, so this is why he will get a long punishment, he out of the World Cup anyway

That's not the point. FIFA clearly have the jurisdiction to ban a player from all competitions.
Of course it's the point.

FIFA are the games governing body and can ultimately do what they like, but in a scenario similar to this they've never issued a world wide ban there's therefore no precedent for one and they're highly unlikely to create one over an incident of violent conduct

What's the similar scenario ?

Zidane's headbutt was an isolated incident at the end of a career of one of the world's greatest players, and more importantly there was a reason behind Zidane's reaction. Suarez's biting wasn't just unprovoked, it could also be a health hazard, biting isn't a joke and can lead to contraction of hepatitis among other things. Then you add the fact that he's done it repeatedly despite punishment in the past.

Banning him from international games only would be stupid and a terrible punishment as they're not going to win the World Cup anyway and he'd be free to play domestically.

It in essence merely violent conduct.

Whilst personally I'd love to see them make an example of him and create a new precedent, let's be right it's not going to happen

Bans for match fixing have nothing to do with on field issues.

They can't issue a world wide ban for this, when they didn't do that when Zidane stuck the nut in the final ffs

Not only that they can,

I would be absolutely astonished if they didnt take his previous into account.

Then again, I was absolutely astonished they gave a WC to Qatar.

Surely Liverpool have played a major part in the inevitable happening again? He just happened to be playing for Uruguay. They way they've not only condoned his attitude in the past, but actually actively defended it/made it look like a conspiracy has played a part in Suarez carrying on thinking he's free to do what he wants. He's probably feeling like he's the victim in all this. Of course he needs to be banned at club level as well.

Not arsed about any ban, I just want him sold, simples, they can't replace him, as only 2 players could, all things being equal they will be worse next season.

Would love a transfer request but given he has justt signed a 5 year deal no chance of him giving that payday up by sacrifcing his 'loyalty' bonus

I'm not sure the 2 Spanish giants will still want him at the level of his buyout clause - if at all, as he's damaged goods in terms of his reputation, which their sponsors might not be keen on.

He'd appeared to clean up his act, but yesterday proved that this leopard is never likely to change its spots, so the same reason that kept the big boys away last summer has repeated itself this.

I think he's far more likely to stay now from a 'buyout' point of view, but will the RS finally decide enough's enough?

He's also brought the game into disrepute. If the Premier League won't take action you can bet the FA will.

The sponsors and the government won't want children to see a football player do something like that and effectively pick up £300k a week with out any punishments.

Its only two/three years ago there were riots in London/the UK.

Still think he'll get off though.

would also drive his price up if there are potential suitors because of the fact he won't be on international duty.

i'd hope he gets chucked out of the game tbh, it won't happen, but we've always said that he will end someone's career with his horrid tackling, that's not even one of his worst characteristics though - he's very bad for the game, but no doubt RS will think i'm bitter by saying that.
