Just posted this in the WC match thread, but basically Luisao the Benfica defender had a ban extended by FIFA from a domestic to a worldwide ban after he assaulted a player in the Portugese league. Clearly FIFA have the jurisdiction to apply bans regardless of the competition the action occurred in.

Only question is how long the ban will be then really. It has to be a year you'd think given the two previous.

They will be humble. They are known throughout the game for their humility which is why everyone wanted them to win the league.
