ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

'Get one over on Liverpool'? Wouldn't you say that the enormous amount of time after Heysel it took your club and fans to acknowledge their actions and responsibility for that disaster was totally responsible for that type of point scoring?

You've reaped the whirlwind because of that.

Quite.

Fact of the matter is that a few years back, a few of your lot were flying a Steaua BucureÅŸti 1986 banner at the derby. Taking pride in the fact that the death of 39 Juve fans, caused by Liverpool supporters, meant Everton didn't have the right to compete in that competition.

Antonio lid, you seemed to be a decent, honest lad a while ago.

But saying that pointing out you lot pushed a wall down killing 39 innocent people reflects badly on Everton is just a prime example of the sh*te you've started coming out with lately.

I had family at Heysel and at Hillsborough. I watched both events live on the TV. I saw LFC fans attack Juventus fans at Heysel and watched horrified as 39 of them died. I watched LFC fans pile into Hillsborough and again was horrified as 96 of them died. My family who were there had no doubts that the blame lay with the LFC fans for both events. We hear a great deal about justice for the 96 and nothing about justice for the 39, but their families just like the families on Merseyside suffered. Heysel however again seems to have been airbrushed out of the LFC collective memory. No blame may be attached to LFC fans, it was the fault of the police or the stadium. But why does it always happen to LFC. Everton had a wonderful friendly final just a week or so before. Just for one minute think about it. The day that LFC fans can say that some blame actually lays with themselves and stops pretending to always be victims of someone or another will be the day that LFC rejoins humanity. Dalgleish has been woeful in his non admission of any blame upon Suarez and brings no credit to the people of Merseyside, imho.......

That's a pretty bold statement. Anyway, I wasn't aiming to go down this route because it's never comfortable, but I was just raising one point about something that annoys me.

Classic Kopite roper doper trick. Brass neck like: bringing in Heysel to deflect from Klangate.

Only the Kopites eh?

The thing is, I was born 10 years after Heysel and it just annoys me that I shouldn't have to be reminded of it by other people born 10 years after Heysel. We equally weren't involved so there shouldn't be any high ground.

Antonio

An entity that is blameless/cannot be blamed is God isn't it ? Repent your false idols, renounce racism without qualification, move to Merseyside, and follow Everton.

It is bold only in that it is what they saw and said and seemed similar to what I saw on the TV. Where you there, did you see either event ?

Just like generations of young Germans post 1945, you should always be reminded of your atrocities as a way of avoiding making those same mistakes in the future.
