martinez and defences they say? conveniantly forgot about the 3 consecutive clean sheets we had then. i know we've conceded 4 in the last 2 games, but 1 was a massive deflection, 1 was a pen, 1 was a worldie and the other one admittedly was bad defending. martinez' swansea let in less than a goal a game over the course of a season - and we have a great defence, people seem to underestimate that so much, despite our statistics over many years. It was the first goals we'd conceded at home for 7 matches ffs!

teams getting in behind our full backs! umm, need to get the ball off us first, newcastle got that chance a couple of times, but both are so pacey they quickly recovered.

we may well be screwed if lukaku gets injured though - hopefully kone will pick it up if that did happen.#

barkley - purple patch? a purple patch is raheem sterling's first 5/6 career games, he's done **** all since then.

lmao the way they used to call Fellaini a dirty [Poor language removed].
Lucas had 5 yellow cards in 7 games thus missing their next match

Good post.

Sturrisge and Suarez will be a test for sure though.

Apparently Torres not getting a ban is 'proof' that the FA are conspiring against Liverpool FC. Why is everything always about them? This is nothing to do with them - yet they are the 'victims' here.

They've got a few easy fixtures unfortunately. Even with Anthony Taylor as referee I can't see them dropping points at home to Palace at the weekend.

They've had one of the easiest starts out of anyone in the league yet still managed to get embarassed at home by Southampton. They were shambolic in some of their other games against dross opposition as well and were lucky to win. You can't get away with that for 38 games. You only have to look at some of the names that have won at Anfield recently to see that anyone could go there and get something from them. As long as the ref doesn't gift them games like he did at Sunderland then they will be relying on a good defense and getting goals on the break in every game they play because their midfield is so poor. Brendan has completely abandoned his philosophy and reverted back to the mass defense counter attacking long diagonal balls style of play that Rafael perfected. As Rafael found out though, no matter how much money you throw at that you can't win the league playing that way. At least Martinez has the stones to stick to his principles regardless of the results. Rodgers gave 4 3 3 and tiki taka 3 months then abandoned it for the modus operandi that has delivered them the same number of league titles as us in the last 23 years.

This all day long, even their supposed tough fixture was against Utd during their worst prem start

And against a manager who regularly soils his kecks at Anfield.

However, if you go by the current standings, our starts have been relatively the same. Their opposition averages 12-13th in the table (12.5 actually), ours 12th. Of coourse, with the war chest they have they should be strolling it.
