ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Well this means that the Stanley Park site is now available.

I look forward to The Everton board submitting plans for our new ground shortly.

Well if one was brutally honest there can't be much difference in applying to build a football stadium on one side of Stanley Park and building one on the other side. If anything the access and merits of the application would be even better on our side of the park with better roads and less housing directly on top of it.

Im not as up on the local politics and stuff, but other than that, it is our old pal cash. I guess.

GP is, (I think), security for current loans, but if we sold it, presumably to a supermarket chain, and could then borrow against the new stadium on a long term basis, not renegotiated every year, and/or attract a backer who could support the outlay, then maybe it would stack up.

Yeah cash is clearly a problem for us so it's a necessity that we get a big partner in on it. What you've just said is interesting but who knows hey!

It should be no different than selling your own house, settle debts, then getting a mortgage to build a new one really. If you think about it. Lets say, for the sake of argument, that we ended up with £10m after sale of GP and settlement of ALL debt.

£60m odd to build a decent ground? Bristol Rovers, (ffs), are spending £30m on a 30000 seater down here, including land purchase, so not totally out the park, so to speak.

Borrow £50m at 5%? Repay capital & interest over 20 years is about £5m per annum. Pretty much what we pay on debt now, apparently.

Ho hum

The Emirates cost 390m, in 2004.

Yeah, I know. Also included the land purchase, transport links, and is in London. Not saying it would be a piece of piss to do it, but it might be viable. Then again, I think we all know, that it is very, very unlikely to happen.

The council has said countless times it would help us along the way.

The Board has constantly complained about viable sites, well theres 1 right next door to us now and nothing but silence.

Im not pretending I know the first thing about planning permissions, but maybe cos "they" have applied, we have to wait untill we can apply again.

I would be shocked if the Board isnt at least looking into it. Infact, scrap that, I would be shocked if they had a fcking clue.

Fekkin annoying and frustrating either way mate.

£42 for an away end ticket explains a lot. Got mine this morning for our trip up on Oct 5. (Will be across the park two weeks later for the Everton v Hull game, my lad's first game this season.)

If we sold Goodison Park to fund a new stadium, after the disasters we've seen before, I could see us ending up completely in the brown stuff when it all goes horribly wrong, with no money and no stadium, having to crawl over to our neighbours to beg to play at Anfield...
