Alan RS Green just said on 606 that he agrees Suarez got lucky with only an 8 match ban.

It seems some are starting to see the paradox of Cantona getting an 8 month ban for assaulting a fan who was racially abusing him, compared to a player only getting 8 games for dishing out said abuse. Cantona could certainly claim provocation, whereas Suarez hasn't a leg to stand on in that regard.
