on another note: Wenger and Arsenal will have some serious explaining to do with their fans. If they get off to a poor start they will be murder at the emirates

While most teams continue to look for new British players The RS continue to hold their own Bargain Basement Brit Sale

Downing, Carroll, Adam, Cole, Shelvey all shipped out on the cheap in recent times.

Looking at their squad on the BBC site they really look paper thin in depth and experience

Mignolet, Jones
Johnson, Enrique, Skrtl*, Agger*, Toure, (Coates, Flanagan, Kelly, Wisdom)
Gerrard, Coutinho, Henderson, Lucas, Allen, Sterling, Alberto (Ibe)
Suarez*, Sturridge, Borini, Aspas (Assaidi, Yesel, Morgan, Sinclair, Pacheco)

* subject to transfer speculation

In other words, even allowing for the possible departures (*), they have something 14 established first teamers including the likes of Borini and old man Toure.

Luis Suarez will not join another English club - Steven Gerrard

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard says he is confident that Uruguay striker Luis Suarez will not be sold to Arsenal this summer.
Gerrard said he could not guarantee Gunners target Suarez, 26, would still be at Anfield when the transfer window closed, but added he was sure he would not be going to another English club.

"I don't know what is going to happen over the next few weeks," said Gerrard.

"But I am really confident he won't be going to anyone else in England."

Suarez has excelled since joining Liverpool from Ajax for £22.7m, scoring 51 goals in 96 appearances.

However, has been training alone since trying to engineer a move this summer, with Arsenal having had a bid of just over £40m turned down.

Gerrard could not escape one of the transfer sagas of the summer, despite speaking on the eve of England's first match against Scotland in 14 years.

But he said he would do all he can to prevent Suarez from leaving the club.

"He is one of the best players in the world, so I can understand why clubs are showing an interest in him," he said. "If I can use my influence to try to make him stay, of course I will do that.

"I enjoy playing with him and I don't want him to go. For Liverpool to be successful and to keep moving forward, we need to keep our best players."

When Gerrard was asked how he saw the situation panning out, he said: "At the moment? I haven't got a clue."
Gerrard went on to add that, in his view, the Premier League transfer window should be closed before the season starts in order to prevent clubs being unsettled by long-running transfer sagas during the season.

This season's deadline is on Monday, 2 September - over two weeks after the opening round of fixtures.

Come on Luis, do the honourable thing and show him up.

They haven't moved forward for about 7 years.

the best part about this whole saga is that after his refusal to apologize last week many many LFC fans finally came to terms with him being a total scrote. poems were being written about how he let them down after sticking up for him for so long. shirts were being burnt. All reds who out of affection named their sons and daughters luis found themselves beating their children senselessly, tears drenching their novelty anfield dressing-gowns.
Now after those public spectacles they have to celebrate how they, the fans, have brought him to his senses. He will stay because of his love for the fans, and of course he will, because he's always loved Liverpool more than anyone else.
Like abused wives these silly reds.

I predict he will say sorry to the fans and the club and they will lap it up

I think he will sign a new contract in the next few weeks with a cast iron clause in it that he can leave next summer if a pre agreed fee is met

That appears to be how it's about to pan out.

lol at the kopites who've been calling him a **** finally, & admitting that his behaviour was awful, they'll now revert back to defending his every cheating move.

Starting to think he'll stay. I hope he does really as there will be some frantic deleting of posts on RAWK and Twitter, some first class revisionism abou how the media twisted his words and the least sincere apology in the history of football.

However this finishes, the pinkies will come out of this looking terrible, both club and supporters. At least the internet dwelling ones, they're completely detached from reality and it's bloody brilliant to watch.

Looking forward to some of their new songs next season too, especially when they all start doing the Jaws theme.

It's raining men will be good, I'm hoping they go for the full works of the adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Kop.

Always knew he would stay. This is more about the club going forward than a talented individual staying. We have demonstrated that we really are a big club. We are ahead of Arsenal and spurs, whilst we are bigger but poorer than the plaything clubs city and Chelskie. We have demonstrated once again that we are the only real competitors to the half red manks in terms of kudos and standing. We are on the way back and even if Suarez leaves us next year we are still climbing that hill because we are too big to be bullied.

Id imagine the poems's are being written at the moment..
