its for the stewards to watch for the crowd isn't it?

All staff that have an interaction with members of the public so aye, you might be right. Still, having to tell them that these are the words that they should listen out for isn't painting a brilliant picture of the staff.

You'd like to think if a steward heard a fan calling Evra a "f*cking Manc n*gger" he'd know without being told that this was wrong, and have the nous to point this out to a policeman.

No it's not, but it's like the grey area between "banter" and derogatory comments, it's addresses what they they believe is appropriate. It's a policy now.

That's not very clever as a PR stunt, tbf...which is what it essentially was. Now the whole world views the use of words like coon, n*gg*r , chink, pikey, spaz etc as synonymous with the match day experience at Anfield.

These people aren't very bright.

The best bit is that it didnt go to the players, who apparently dont need to be told what terms are and are not acceptable... presumably because a couple of them have been convicted of expressing racist or homophobic sentiment in the recent past.

Imagine getting kicked out for telling a player to "man up." I'm sorry sir, you are out of order, I need to escort you off the premises.

Good point that. Imagine you're a steward, caterer, etc and you get pulled in over uttering one of those terms when the same divvies pulling you up have supported racism in the recent past?

Here's that list in full
