Michael Owen's comments -

"Arsenal are a fabulous club and have got a great heritage, but Liverpool are as big - if not bigger," he said.

"I'm struggling to understand why he would leave and stay in England with Liverpool being the stature they are."

He's right though, it's every players dream to be in the run in for 7th every year

Arsenal have been the bigger club ever since Michael Thomas onwards

18 Titles is hugely impressive, but they haven't won one in over 25 years, in comparison to a team who went the whole season undefeated in 2004 and have been consistently in he top 4 since then.

I think Owen struggles to understand anything really. Unless its a horse.

Owen is trying to build bridges after the fatwah declared on him for signing for United.

The ex player after dinner circuit and fawning media appearances is very lucrative for them if they play to the masses.

The f*cking biff.

Haha! Havnt heard that in years!

michael owen knows nothing about football at all - FACHT!

he was once fast and good at putting a ball in the net - no football brain at all. hence hopw he can't score now that his legs have gone.

i'd ignore anything he says, BBC only publish everything he says because they feel he may be knowledgeable being a great england goalscorer, they are very clueless on such matters as well. how anybody could make a case for staying at liverpool instead of arsenal at this point in time i don't know

It's just an outrageous statement from him.

Thing is i don't think it's that outrageous, in that Liverpool are possibly still bigger than Arsenal, all things considered.

It's just that history isn't a consideration for players. How many banners the fans produce isn't a consideration. And how many aussies sing an awful song isn't a consideration.

Arsenal have the better imminent future and that is all Suarez is concerned about.

in what way? The ****e had a golden 15 years. Before and After Arsenal have always been bigger.

And currently are much bigger, everything about them is bigger now. The ****e are getting carried away by 60,000 Thais turning up to see them

...it smacks of trying to score some brownie points, but the neighbours have selective memory. They blot out facts like they have not won the league for 20 odd years and that they are no longer a top 6 club but they wont forget that Owen once had the audasity to leave them.

And even his horses are s++++

I love a classic article:

Liverpool have been shrewd in the transfer window with the signings of Downing, Adam, Bellamy, Henderson, Enrique and Coates and possibly in a dystopian world where Reina gets a serious injury, Doni. Although it would be nice to sign a Mata, Lukaku, Coentrao or Hazard(would never have happened this window) i believe that it's not about signing players, it's about signing players who will fit the squad and the system that King Kenny wants to play. From the Arsenal game, first half of Sunderland and Bolton highlights(was at Reading Festival so i missed it!) it looked like it's working, and although it's too soon to say i believe that some of these deals will flourish into signings of the season over the much talked about Jones, Young, Mata, Gervinho etc. especially with the smallish price of some of these deals, and even with a 20mil price tag Downing is looking spectacular.

They're all over the show.

@AustRose if you want to remind him of this.
