You would think he didn't have long to live.

Obviously they're wrong in thinking blues are singing this in relation to Hillsborough. But the actual words 'always the victims, it's never your fault' will forever remind them more of the tragedy of that day than any contemporary incident like Suarez's ban or whatever. That's what the whole inquiry was about, that the police (wrongly) blamed the fans.

Maybe we should just be the bigger man here and ditch this chant. It's causing more trouble than it's worth.

We all like to piss of kopites, but not when it reminds them of Hillsborough. I just feel in this case the words of the chant are too close to what the actual inquiry (the 2012 one) was about.

No they ****ing like to think its about hillsbrough so they can have a cry and a shake about it, They will use it to get the high ground o anyything they can

It's just not about H'Boro though. Maybe other clubs fans mean it that way, I doubt many Everton fans ever started off singing that as a reference to it though. It's always been about the distinction between their call for football favours/advantages and then their critics comparing that with perceived off-field wrongdoings over stuff like Heysel and Shileds and Athens. Maybe it isn't mature, but their attempt to drag that over to include H'boro and use it as a stick to beat fans of a club that's more than done their duty by the 96 families and their friends is completely sick.

That's why I think whoever is chanting this, or writing it in forums, should be the bigger man and ditch it (or at least re-word it so it doesn't appear related to Hillsborough).

It's tricky, I realise that. Liverpool FC and their fans do blatantly play the victim card in football matters (witness the Gerrard/Carragher double-teaming the ref today). We're well within our rights to take the piss out of them for it, but we should be sensitive to how some of them might misunderstand (whether wilfully or not) our criticism.

Personally, I'd start a You're just a poor man's Man Utd...poor man's Man Uniiiited....You're just a poor man's Man Utd chant b)

Just read the locked RAWK thread

I hope you are all ashemed of that thread, Saying that Blues where singing about Hillsbrough after all the support we have given you, Jesus blues lost loved ones that day do you honeslty think if there was blues mocking that event they would be still standing, Do you think lads in the away end would allow that to happen

Think before you try to spread posion on the internet

Genuine question and I apologise for my naivety and do not wish to cause offence to anybody.

Have any of youse ever seen an Everton fan make fun of hillsborough using the crushing gesture they mention?

I read some prick saying the Park enders where doing it to them at Goodison. Personally I've never ever seen that myself.

I doubt anybody has ever seen it.

Meanwhile, we have actual video evidence of them singing about Munich and making aeroplane gestures.

But hey ho.

Lets not let facts get in the way of kopite logic.

I agree with your post. Obviously decent blues who do chant it absolutely don't mean anything to do with Hillsborough. And I wouldn't be surprised if some reds are wilfully misunderstanding it.

I'm just saying maybe we should be a little more sensitive to the wording, just to make absolutely clear that Hillsborough is off-limits. As maybe there are some genuinely-decent reds who really do misunderstand it.

Like I said, we should be the bigger man here.

Given that LFC have a lot of 'out of the area' fans I would suggest that plenty of EFC fans have been touched by the Hillsborough disaster more so than themselves - not that it's a competition.

They try and claim we sang anti-Hillsborough songs after every derby recently, they must think that people are stupid enough to believe them, nope, only you fellow fans.

They try something similar with Man Utd fans. Every year they claim 'a manc spat on the Hillsborough tribute'. Obviously forgetting (or not knowing) were it is situated and that there would be dozens of witnesses of such an act.

Stay classy LFC.

It just highlights how little they know about the people of Liverpool.

There's some bell end on RAWK asking around for pics/recordings of Everton supporters doing that. He wants to send it into the media to nail Everton.

They are completely ****ing insane. I really think many of that lot have completely lost it now.
