Fairly twisted logic again by Aldridge, he seems to be saying we need to kick Racism out of the game, but what we don’t want people reporting racism too much or it’ll look bad. That Suarez will end up going to Real Madrid if we’re not careful seems to be his main objection. If he was a **** player then it would be ok? This from a guy who boasts of all the work he’s done with anti-racism campaigns.
He seems to accept that the word was used and that both players were trying to wind each other up but then concludes that whole thing is taken out of context??? Does he mean the context of trying to wind a black player up by using a racial slur, that context?
The idea that Suarez is some kind of stowaway off a boat trying to figure out the nuances of European culture is bazaar. He’s played football for 5 years in AJAX and has been all over the world in international competition. He’s been at Liverpool for almost a year now, training and playing in England. If it was such a casual thing to say, you’d think he would have discovered all this over the last 6 years.
Even outside of football, I'm trying to imagine Suarez as a sort of Uruguayan Alan Partridge ordering wine in restaurants, obliviously insulting half the waiters, hotel staff and flight attendants he encounters.
He’s not the 1st player to come from Uruguay to play in the Premier League. Where are all the instances of ‘cultural misunderstandings’?
Suarez has shown himself to be a person who will do whatever it takes to win, he has all the moral fiber of a jackal.
8 games, he got off lightly.
