Fully agree which is why the poor planning stands out - it doesn’t take a genius to anticipate that there would be lots of blag tickets about.

I’m not keen on the whitewashing of Liverpool fans behavior but by the same token aren’t keen on praising French police performance either for what was clearly a poorly thought out response to some easily anticipated issues.
 
It doesn't surprise me in the least that people who go to another country and behave like that failed to do the tiniest bit of research into what policing might be like in that country. I imagine many of them thought they might meet UK-style police who may take some of their abuse, then give them an undeserved chance to see reason before thinking about escalating things. Well, that's not how it works in France, and those who thought they could run rings around a CRS bent on preventing yet another stadium tragedy finally met their Waterloo. Oh, the irony.
