Exactly. 40,000 people is 1/2 the capacity of the Stade de France. It's a lot of fake tickets. And how would they have any clue on that number?

Mate they said 2600 tickets had been accounted for and 30/40k ATTEMPTS at bunking in . 1 fan could try every Gate multiple times to get to that number . It doesn’t mean 40k people tried to bunk in. fail at one gate they try another and so on …

I agree, but I won't let tribalism get in the way of what was a very dangerous situation created mostly by the failure of authorities to act properly and those same ones are now lying - because there's no way that 40,000 turned up with fake tickets

Yeah, I get that. For that many to turn up there would have been far far bigger problems. The thing is, ignoring the reported 30k, 40k or whatever it doesn't take huge number of unauthorised fans to create a dangerous situation. 500-3000 would be enough.

The way I see it, the French authorities pressed the panic button like they usually do. Absolutely no need to tear gas. But they must have seen enough people bunk in, or had a tip off as to the number of fakes. It doesn't make much sense for them to otherwise react like they did.

Was the policing that poor? Tear gas people so they don't rush the stadium and cause a problem?

Their desperation to be at the ground regardless of if they had legit reasons to be there or not is the catalyst. Without that nothing else is an issue.

It's got nothing to do with being bitter, it's just calling it how I see it (doesn't mean I am right or anything).

If there is any bitterness from me it comes from taking pops at the French rather than anything RS related.

They're mentioning it was on an 'industrial scale'. If it's true, UEFA should disclose the system logs as there'll examples of the same seat attempting access.

If you scan your ticket it a Goodison and someone tried again, it'll knock you back as that allocated seat has gained its one time entry.

The pictures of the isles, images of fake tickets and people saying/gloating they got in/bunked in suggests there may be some truth in this.

Look at some of the replies to the lad in the suit too: 'fair play lad'; 'haaaaa no way'; 'credit where credit is due'. They're praising someone who bunked in...

... all while attempting to suggest the UEFA message is wrong. The irony is off the scale.

3 bellwhiff red scruffs in work went with one ticket, they had the q code (I think it's called that), I don't even think it was the original ticket either probably plenty more got printed off it.
Been boasting about it for the last week or so, one of the big mouthed rats has the Hillsborough memorial flame tattooed prominently on his forearm, he got into the Athens final holding a cigarette packet up and into Istanbul pretending to push a disabled person's wheelchair b4 sprinting off...

They all got into the Paris stadium again... 3 legit supporters got binned off for them but they're alright Jack.. scum.

Yeah, I’m not sure if they were claiming 40000 fake tickets were detected and turned away, or whether some got in or what. But if there was an extra Goodison worth of people, either inside or outside the ground, there’d be much more evidence of it than there was. It would’ve been genuine carnage.

good point, theres every possibility some tix turned up forged at the pre checks well before the stadium. I wouldnt be surprised if some of the hooligans had more than one ticket on them in case the first try got confiscated.

No, listen to the very reputable journalists who were there, and ask yourself, do you think 40,000 people turned up to the stadium with fake tickets? They've also said 70% of the capacity tried to use fake tickets - which would have meant 175,000 people turned up.

That doesn't add up.

My understanding of what the French were saying at their press conference was that - 70% of the fans trying to enter the stadium had fake tickets, and that 2900 of these had got part of the way in before the authorities then realised what was happening, I suspect it was at this point that the police tactics changed!
Described it as “ticket fraud on an industrial scale”!
